Community Highlights: Meet Christian Zuniga of Carmen’s Tex Mex

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Zuniga.

Christian Zuniga

Hi Christian, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Executive Chef/Owner with humble beginnings. My journey started as early as a 10-year-old kid, watching my mother, Carmen, in the kitchen creating these amazing dishes that just left everyone speechless and begging for more! I was so intrigued by her cooking abilities that I immediately knew this was my life calling.

Fast forward through Culinary School, Top DFW Restaurants ranking positions, and extensive Mexican cuisine training, it was time to launch my very own concept.

I started Carmen’s Tex Mex in 2022 in Kennedale, Texas. We specialize in Fresh Tex Mex food made with the freshest ingredients.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road? My philosophy is quite simple… Nothing in life worth having comes easy. I believe obstacles/challenges are not only necessary but are an essential building block for any strong leader. Take what you love and have strong passion for it. Moral of the story is, love what you do and get paid for it. Every great story begins with a plan and passion.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Carmen’s Tex Mex?
I am the Executive/Chef Owner at Carmen’s Tex Mex in Kennedale, Texas. We specialize in Tex-Mex cuisine with a fresh approach. We take the utmost pride in preparing dishes made with love and presented in style. Extensive preparation and care goes into each and every recipe execution. So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Any industry you choose is difficult enough, right? I am the biggest believer in “2 heads is better than 1”. Having that mental support, whether it be pairing with someone with more experience or having someone you work with every day, will make your job easier and more enjoyable. Strong leaders everywhere need to find the urgency to reach out to other leaders and simply ask for advice in any issues your business is facing. For that simple reason, I love to network myself and my company to make necessary contacts. My team and I would love the opportunity to mentor any new start-up restaurants help answering any questions. You can always reach us our Facebook.
