Community Highlights: Meet Christine Imoukhuede of Ahavaplan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Imoukhuede

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I never set out to build a wedding tech company—it just happened.

A few years ago, three of my close friends were getting married at the same time. I jumped in to help, but I quickly saw how stressful and disorganized the process was. They were juggling spreadsheets, endless vendor texts, and risky payments, with no single platform to keep things on track. That’s when it clicked—why wasn’t there a secure, all-in-one solution for wedding planning?

With a 10+ year background in product management at Apple, Lockheed Martin, and UPS, I knew how to build scalable solutions. So I launched Ahavaplan, a platform that makes planning seamless while ensuring secure, escrow-backed payments through AhavaPay—so couples never lose their money.

I started small, building from scratch, onboarding planners, and testing with real couples. We showcased at wedding expos in the U.S. and Dubai and saw thousands join our waitlist, proving this was something the industry truly needed.

Now, we’re focused on scaling, simplifying planning, and ensuring every couple can book vendors with confidence. Seeing couples stress less and plan with peace of mind reminds me exactly why I built Ahavaplan.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but that’s part of the journey.

Bootstrapping Ahavaplan meant doing everything—building the product, onboarding planners, handling marketing, and proving demand—all without outside funding. Convincing wedding planners to trust a new platform was tough. Many were used to word-of-mouth bookings and didn’t see the need for technology, especially for payments. We had to educate them on how AhavaPay actually protects their earnings, not just the couples’ money.

Scaling was another challenge. We had thousands on our waitlist, but without enough planners onboarded, we had to work fast to balance supply and demand. That’s when we rolled out our forced activation strategy, making it easier for planners to get started.

And of course, like any founder, I’ve faced the personal side—long nights, financial risks, and the uncertainty that comes with building something from scratch. But every challenge has only reinforced why we’re doing this. Seeing couples plan with confidence and vendors get paid without stress makes it all worth it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Ahavaplan?
Ahavaplan is all about making wedding planning simple, secure, and stress-free. We connect couples with trusted planners and vendors while ensuring secure, escrow-backed payments through AhavaPay, so no one has to worry about lost deposits or unreliable vendors.

What sets us apart? Unlike platforms that just list vendors, Ahavaplan guides couples through the entire planning process—from finding the right planner to making payments and collaborating all in one place. With built-in planning tools, in-app chat, and budgeting features, couples can stay organized without juggling spreadsheets and endless emails.

We’re proud to be a trust-first platform in an industry where financial security has been an afterthought for too long. At the core of Ahavaplan is peace of mind—helping couples book with confidence and giving planners the tools they need to grow their business.

What matters most to you?
Trust, security, and experiences matter most to me. Weddings should be joyful, not stressful, and no couple or vendor should have to worry about losing money or dealing with unreliable bookings. That’s why I built Ahavaplan—to create a safe, seamless, and reliable planning experience where everyone feels protected and supported.

Beyond business, I’m passionate about seeing the world and experiencing different cultures. My goal is to visit 100 countries, and that same love for global experiences fuels my vision for Ahavaplan’s international expansion. Weddings happen everywhere, and people should be able to plan seamlessly across the world without limitations. I want Ahavaplan to be the go-to platform for couples and vendors—whether they’re planning in their hometown or coordinating a destination wedding across continents.
