Community Highlights: Meet Clifton And Georgina Hickman of Reviving Hope Christian Counseling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Clifton And Georgina Hickman.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
1) Both of us have benefited from counseling by Christian therapists who cared for us during difficult seasons. These therapists, along with our friends, family, and church, have shaped who we are today. Our lives would be very different without them. We wanted to offer that same support to others, especially in a world where therapy grounded in a Christian worldview is often lacking.

2) The name of our practice is inspired by Hope, our lost child, whom we lost to miscarriage at eight weeks. Her or his memory fuels our mission. Her or his unexpected passing challenged us to embody hope even in our own grief, propelling us to create a refuge where others might find solace and strength.

3) We believe that Christian hope is the strongest hope one can ever have in this world. It is a hope grounded in Christ, who makes all things new. Without this hope, we easily sink into despair.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When you start your own business as a therapist, you are no longer just counseling others—you’re also doing everything else. We’ve had to learn a lot about marketing and other business practices, but our focus is always on helping others. Our desire is that everything we do on the business side flows out of a genuine commitment to finding and caring for that future person we meet for the first time in therapy.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Reviving Hope Christian Counseling, our team of Christian therapists in Fort Worth provide compassionate, faith-informed care to help client move from surviving to hope and healing.
We offer therapy for:

1) Porn and Sex Addiction Recovery- Pornography addiction is destroying more marriages, families, and people’s lives today than anything else. We want people to find freedom from it to live a more purposeful life.
2) Anxiety Treatment: separation anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, severe anxiety, generalized anxiety disorder, and other types of anxiety disorders
3) Trauma-focused therapy
4) Couples Counseling and Betrayal Trauma Recovery
5) Grief Counseling and Teen Therapy (ages 13 and up).
6) Christian Sex Therapy for couples struggling with emotional, physical, and spiritual intimacy.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Building relationships with others has been the best way to network our firm. When people know you care about them—rather than what you can get from them—they are more willing to tell others about you. We never envisioned starting our own therapy practice, but when we did, we were blessed with incredible support from friends, family, and churches.
