Today we’d like to introduce you to Cookie Society.
Hi Cookie Society, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Cookie Society started in 2018 as a small family dream between husband-and-wife founders, Marissa and Jeff Allen. Marissa had always loved baking and experimenting with unique flavors, and what began with cookies for family and friends quickly grew through word of mouth. Together, we started selling online, shipping cookies from our home, and learning every part of the business as we went.
In 2020, we opened our first storefront in Frisco, Texas, right in the middle of the pandemic. It was a scary time to take such a big step, but the support from our community was incredible. That same year, Cookie Society was selected for Oprah’s Favorite Things, introducing our brand to customers across the country and helping take the business to another level.
Since then, we’ve grown from a home-based business into a company with six retail locations, nationwide shipping, and nearly 100 team members. We’ve been fortunate to receive national recognition and some amazing opportunities, but what means the most to us is that we’ve been able to build something together as husband and wife while creating jobs, serving our community, and making cookies people genuinely get excited about.
Our growth has never happened overnight. It has taken a lot of faith, sacrifice, resilience, and learning along the way. We’re proud of how far Cookie Society has come, but we still believe we’re just getting started.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been a smooth road. Like most entrepreneurs, we have faced plenty of challenges along the way, especially while learning how to grow a business without losing the quality and experience that made people love Cookie Society in the first place.
We opened our first storefront in 2020 during the pandemic, so from the very beginning, we had to learn how to adapt quickly and operate through uncertainty. As we grew, we also faced the challenges of hiring and developing the right team, managing rising costs, building stronger systems, and learning how to lead a much larger company than the one we originally started from home.
Building a business as husband and wife has also required a lot of communication, patience, and learning how to balance the needs of the company with the needs of our family. There have been long days, difficult decisions, mistakes, and moments when growth felt overwhelming.
Every challenge has taught us something. We have learned to be more disciplined, to build better systems, to trust our team, and to stay focused on why we started. The road has not been easy, but the difficult seasons have helped shape Cookie Society into the company it is today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Cookie Society is a husband-and-wife-founded gourmet cookie company known for thick, bakery-style cookies with crispy edges, soft and chewy centers, and creative flavors that people remember long after the box is gone.
We specialize in taking familiar desserts, childhood favorites, and nostalgic flavors and turning them into elevated cookies. Along with our signature classics, we introduce a new rotating menu each month, which gives our customers something fresh and exciting to look forward to. Customers can visit us at one of our six North Texas locations or order cookies for nationwide shipping.
What sets Cookie Society apart is the attention we give to both flavor and experience. We do not want our cookies to simply look good—we want every flavor to be thoughtfully developed, made with quality ingredients, and worth every bite. We also work hard to create a brand that feels warm, welcoming, and rooted in family and community.
Brand-wise, we are most proud that Cookie Society has grown while still feeling personal. We have been featured on Oprah’s Favorite Things and recognized by several local and national outlets, but the most meaningful part of the journey has been earning the continued support of our customers. Many people have been with us since we were shipping cookies from home, and they have grown alongside us.
We want readers to know that Cookie Society is about more than cookies. It is a family-built brand created through faith, creativity, resilience, and a genuine love for bringing people together. Whether someone is celebrating a special moment, sending a gift, or simply treating themselves, we want every Cookie Society experience to feel memorable.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson we’ve learned is that growth requires strong systems, the right people, and the willingness to adapt. Passion may start the business, but discipline and consistency are what help it last.
