Today we’d like to introduce you to Dee Ware.
Hi Dee, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a sustainable stylist (for about 10 years) I inspire my clients to invest in staple pieces, explore new designers and wear what you own (or resale or upcycle it). I create fun and unique shopping experiences that support local fashion brands and build sustainable communities through Houston Shopping Tours. HST is a shopping tour and party company that allows our guests to engage with each other in a fun environment while shopping locally. I must say, it is a party with luxury transportation a stocked bar, snacks, bag check service, and a pretty vibrant playlist. Yeah, basically… it’s a great private event to host for a celebration or corporate event. We also offer hop-on tours during the holiday season.
I have a background in retail visual design, merchandising strategies. I’ve worked for retail companies such as XXI, Urban Outfitters, and Macy’s. Some brands that I have worked for are Levi’s, Adidas, Calvin Klein, Taryn Rose & Clinique just to name a few.
Space City baby! Houston, TX., born and raised.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Entrepreneurship has definitely had its challenges. Most recently, I have had to pivot in a lot of ways. I now offer virtual styling services which is actually going very well. It’s just a sign of the times. Everyone needs a refresh and has gained a newfound appreciation for our most precious luxury which is time. I have also had to redirect the way I approach social media to market my services. One of the biggest challenges was finding my ideal client and how to do that. And I’m excited to say that I’ve got it!
I definitely started small and consider myself to be an expert in my field now so I can help other entrepreneurs.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I own and operate two companies currently. The. Chic Nomad is my styling platform where I provide education on curating seasonal capsule wardrobes and creating a sustainable closet. Fashion has major opportunity in the carbon footprint and I want people to know that it’s important to buy less, buy quality, and when possible buy local. A lot of people who come to me want a more minimal approach to style without compromising who they are and their personal style. Services offered are Closet Edits, Personal Shopping. Capsule Wardrobes and Outfitting Sessions.
Houston Shopping Tours was born from my styling company as way to gather my clients and take them shopping. It has since evolved into a much bigger communal activity that people book for birthday parties, girls’ day out, corporate engagement events, and tours for groups visiting the city. We also host shopping experiences in other cities including a New York Fashion Week experience and next year we will do a London Fashion Week Experience.
Currently, we offer two party sizes out to 10 guest and up to 20 guests
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Not that I can think of… hmmmm
