Today we’d like to introduce you to Destinie Martin.
Hi Destinie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always knew I wanted to have my own business. For years I thought it would be in the beauty industry, and I imagined myself owning a hair salon. When that didn’t work out, I stepped away from beauty altogether. I still felt entrepreneurship in me, but I didn’t know where it would come from or what direction it would take.
During that time I worked full-time in very routine corporate sales jobs — stable, but not fulfilling. I’m grateful for what those rolls taught me, but I knew they weren’t aligned with my purpose. They gave me structure and discipline but not passion.
Nails came into my life in a completely unexpected way. I didn’t start doing them to make money or to build a business. For almost 2 years I only did my own nails and my families. It was something I loved quietly, something peaceful, and creative that I kept to myself.
Around that two year mark, I started feeling a shift like God was nudging me towards something I hadn’t considered before. I posted a nail video in August and by September I decided to actually give it a real try. I started learning the business side, posting my work, and trusting the process.
Then in November, everything changed literally overnight. One of my TikTok’s went viral while I was asleep. I woke up to hundreds of DM’s if not more and just like that I became fully booked. It was overwhelming in the best way, and it felt like clear confirmation that this was exactly where I was supposed to be.
Now I’m building Sorella Luxe with intention. I’m growing my clientele, developing my Bare Care nail-care line, and preparing to transition into being a full-time nail tech in the next few months. This journey has been unexpected and nothing like what I planned for myself, but I can see God‘s hand in it all. What felt like starting over was really the beginning of everything I prayed for.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve had to build this business while being a mom, a wife, working full-time and going to nail school at night. There were months where my days were completely packed and the only free time I had were the ones I was supposed to be sleeping. It felt like I was constantly pouring into everyone at once my family, my job, school and my clients and hoping I wasn’t for letting anything fall through the cracks.
My full-time job in sales has also been a challenge in its own way. It’s stable, but it’s not fulfilling and balancing something that drains you with something that inspires you can be mentally exhausting. There are many days where I would work all day go to school at night and then come home and still have to create content or practice nails just to keep up.
A lot of my challenges weren’t just physical, they were internal. Trying to grow business while being pulled in so many directions made me doubt myself. I struggled with the fear of the unknown, especially as I prepare to transition into being a full-time nail tech. It’s exciting, but it’s also scary because this business is something I’m building from the ground up. There’s no guarantee, just faith and hard work.
But through every obstacle, I’ve learned discipline, consistency, and trust. Trust in God, trust in my timing, and trust in the fact that even when the road feels heavy, it’s still leading exactly to where I’m meant to go.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Sorella Luxe is a luxury nail brand based in Arlington. My focus is creating a soft, clean, peaceful experience for every client who walks into my suite. I specialize in high-quality acrylic and structured gel services with long lasting retention, luxury prep, and a calm environment that makes people feel cared for. I’m known for my soft aesthetic, my attention to detail, and the level of intentionality I put into everything I do from the prep work to the lighting in my suite.
I’ve always believed that nails are more than a service. They’re an experience, and that experience starts the moment a client steps into the room. My brand is quiet, intentional and rooted in faith. Everything I have and everything I’m building is because of God, and I make sure that the atmosphere in my suite reflects that — peaceful, warm, and full of grace. I want clients to feel like they can breathe, slow down, and enjoy a moment for themselves. Everything in my space is designed around that feeling, the lighting, the shows we watch, the scent, the way my desk is set up, and even the client goodie bags I give out.
What sets Sorella Luxe apart is the combination of soft luxury, strong standards, and a faith centered approach. I don’t rush my work and I don’t cut corners. I’m proud of the consistency, care, and intention behind every service. I’m also building my nail-care line, Bare Care, which includes cuticle oils, and products made to help women care for their nails outside of their appointments.
Education is also becoming a major part of my brand. Starting in January, I’ll be offering beginner nail classes and resources for aspiring nail tech who want to learn the foundation of luxury nails the right way. I want to teach with the same calm, intentional, faith lead approach that I use in my own work and help others, build their careers with confidence and integrity.
My goal is for Sorella Luxe is to become a full luxury experience. Services, products, education, and content that all reflect the same calm elevated and intentionally soft tone. Whether someone is coming in for a fill, buying cuticle oil, or learning from me as a beginner nail tech, I want them to feel the same excellence, peace, and care throughout the entire brand.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is staying aligned with God‘s will for my life. I didn’t plan to be here, and I never imagine nails would become my purpose, but God knew long before I did. The moment I stepped into what He was calling me too I felt a level of peace, joy and clarity that I couldn’t find anywhere else. Every step I take with this business is led by Him, and I want to make sure that everything I build reflects His presence in my life.
I care deeply about creating a community of women who share similar values and morals. Women who want to grow, heal, and show up for themselves. I want my suite to feel like more than a place to get your nails done; I want it to feel like a safe space, a soft space, a place where you can feel God’s love through the way I treat you. The same way He pours into me daily, I want to pour into others through my work.
What matters most is honoring the assignment God gave me. Using my gifts to serve women, uplift them, and make them feel seen. Aligning my decisions with God, listening when He speaks, and trusting Him even when the path is unfamiliar. At the end of the day, Sorella Luxe is more than a brand. It’s my way of walking in purpose, staying obedient, and showing God‘s love through every part of the experience.
