Today we’d like to introduce you to Deven Wilson.
Hi Deven, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Back in Illinois, I was a business and entrepreneurship major, but I didn’t know how to use it. When I moved to Texas, I became a bartender because it was something that I have always known how to do. Shortly after, I began a new journey in automobile sales and was in a great position to support my growing family. Being fortunate enough to be in car sales, there was always a direct way to meet plenty of people who helped open my eyes to entrepreneurial endeavors. I was informed about their successes and failures and applied the information on my journey to becoming a completely independent entrepreneur. Texas felt new and wide open with opportunity and when the time was right, I met the right people that helped me build and progress as an entrepreneur.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all. In 2016, I started off with a music company-Efmg LLC. We signed a few artist and even got one of my artists a song with Rick Ross and Gucci on Apple Music. We had two studios and five engineers. Everything seemed to be looking up but because I had a family, the freedom I had to do shows and really push music was tough. Eventually, I let the studio go. Since then, I’ve started a trucking business with a high school friend who totally went off the deep end. That didn’t end well, and after a year, I have since turned the EMFG company to a Holdings company, gained the knowledge I needed and started my own trucking company. Currently under the holding company, I have my trucking business along with a carpet cleaning business for my father. We plan on growing our name and company with a few other business endeavors in the near future as well.
Trust and believe, I’ve learned a lot about state taxes, how to choose more qualified partners and in the process, I’ve invested and lost a lot of time and effort, but I have learned and progressed enough to know every red flag is now just a new learning experience.
We’ve been impressed with EFMG LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
EFMG stands for Elite family Management Group. We are a holdings company, and as of now, we hold a trucking and a carpet cleaning company and are consistently growing. We also help others learn and grow their business by consultations. More updates should be coming soon but out web page is EFFMGllc.com
Any big plans?
I definitely want to get into real estate. That was my first love and I’m just waiting for the right time. I also plan on putting together a way people can invest in more of a hedge fund with us but that’s more in the distant future.
