Community Highlights: Meet Dr. Veleria Brown-Norice of The Juice Kulture

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Veleria Brown-Norice

Hi Dr. Veleria, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?

I’ve always had a level of consciousness when it comes to health and nutrition. At various points in my life I was relentless. I worked out 4-6 days a week and nutrition was a priority. However, there were also times when it all took a back seat. Admittedly, it wasn’t the best decision but that’s my truth.

Challenges with my personal health and those I loved was overwhelming which led me to explore the world of juicing. Initially, it was just a hobby — experimenting with different fruit and vegetable combinations at home.

As I got deeper into it, I started sharing my juices with friends and family. Their positive feedback encouraged me to consider turning my then hobby, into a business. With a leap of faith, I decided to start selling my juices to family, friends, and at various vendor events. The response was overwhelmingly amazing in a good way. It gave me the confidence to make it official December 22, 2023!

Starting small, I purchased my first juicer and have added additional juicers to produce bigger batches to keep up with the demand. Quality, taste, and transparency was and still is important as we continue to grow.

Getting the word out and marketing played a significant role too. Social media and word-of-mouth has helped us reach a broader audience. People continue to share their feedback and enthusiasm for our products. The support has been nothing short of amazing!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

Along the way, we’ve definitely encountered challenges. If I had to put them in order I’d say…time management, seasonal variability, minimizing cost while maintaining high quality products, and health regulations. That’s a whole mouth full right!?

They all require a level of attention to keep things balanced and going in the right direction. The Juice Kulture is a growing small black-owned business. With that comes competition whether we like it or not— but each obstacle comes an opportunity to learn something new.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

Sure. The Juice Kulture is proud to be a local woman-owned business in Fort Worth, Texas! We specialize in making a variety of nutrient rich cold-pressed juices that support health and wellness.

You will not find added sugars, preservatives, water, or powders in our products. We use the freshest fruits and vegetables which enriches the quality of our juice. Food is medicine. That being said, we provide options that do not require a prescription. For us…it’s not just a thing. It’s a KULTURE!

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?

Juicing is not a new phenomenon. However, over the next 5-10 years, the juicing industry is likely to see several trends and shifts. There will be a continued awareness and emphasis on personalized nutrition and functional ingredients. For example, superfoods and probiotics, tailored to specific health benefits.

Technology plays a role in everything these days. So, I believe we’ll see more juicing apps for personalized recipes are on the horizon. I can also see the development of a nutrient tracking system especially for those under medical supervision or even the gym junkie.

Convenience and accessibility are also big! Here’s the reality, when people want something they want it instantly. Growth in “convenience-focused” products like cold-pressed options, and juice bars in non-traditional locations will transform communities. The key word here is “non-traditional”.

People want to experience true health and wellness. They want it without pharmaceutical influence. We want to be the vehicle by which people are exposed to the alternative. The alternative is The Juice Kulture.
