Community Highlights: Meet Dr. Xavier Cooper of Prolific Chiropractic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Xavier Cooper.

Hi Dr. Xavier, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in a very chaotic environment that shaped me from a young age. When I was around 4 years old, my mother was incarcerated for selling drugs. I was too young to understand the weight of it, but I felt her absence deeply. That led me to live with my father and much older half-siblings. Over time, due to truancy and instability, the state stepped in and forced my father to place me and my siblings into foster care in Itasca, Texas. That was the start of a long stretch of feeling lost, angry, and misunderstood. I bounced between homes, removed from everything familiar, and separated from my siblings.

Eventually, my mother reentered my life after her release, but by then I had already been branded as a “troubled kid”; someone with a behavioral record and emotional baggage. I wasn’t just rebellious. I was hurting. Fall of 2001 I was sent to live with distant relatives in Seattle for a few years, but that didn’t heal anything; it just added more distance. I struggled in school, was labeled incapable, and carried the weight of a speech impairment I’d been dealing with since early childhood. I started to believe the stories people told about me: that I wouldn’t amount to much.

But deep down, I still craved something simple: love, the kind that makes you feel safe enough to grow. When I was finally allowed to live with my mother again, it was like finally being able to breathe after years of suffocating. I didn’t need much, just presence, peace, and consistency. That stable environment gave me the space to start healing. And that’s when everything began to shift.

One of the first real turning points came in middle school, when a few teachers finally saw something in me that others had overlooked. They didn’t treat me like a problem, they treated me like I had potential. Despite everything and how far behind I was, they pushed to get me placed in honors classes. One teacher in particular pulled me aside and said, “You’re not incapable. You’re capable. You just need a chance.” That belief cracked something open in me. For the first time, I wasn’t just trying to survive; I wanted to rise. I started showing up differently, not just in school, but in how I carried myself. Their belief planted the first real seeds of self-worth.

I worked hard to catch up in school, pushed past the limitations that had been placed on me, and eventually started earning academic honors. I even received an NAACP award for my turnaround. I found my confidence through track and field. And although I didn’t receive a D1 offer, I didn’t give up. I trained hard, got a scholarship to Bacone College, and continued chasing something greater. When I transferred to Southern Arkansas University and lost over 36 credits in the process because courses like Christianity and native American studies wasn’t acceptable. It felt like another setback; but that’s also where I was introduced to chiropractic through a friend and a powerful experience.

I remember a time in 2015 which was first chiropractic came into my life, while working as a trash collector, I survived a near-fatal accident. I was thrown from the back of a garbage truck as it tipped into a ditch. I remember flying through the air and hearing God say, “Let go, my son. I got you.” I let go and I lived while the truck landed on its side 3 sec later. That moment changed me. During recovery, I was treated by a Black chiropractor and was deeply moved by the power of his hands, his presence, and the healing he facilitated. I began shadowing a chiropractor that one of friends recommended my senior year at southern Arkansas University and knew this was what I was meant to do. I applied to Logan University’s Doctor of Chiropractic program and got accepted.

Logan tested me. I failed exams, wrestled with imposter syndrome, and came face to face with burnout. But one day, while studying in the library, I picked up The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra. One quote stood out:“ “Inherent in every intention and desire is the mechanics for its fulfillment… intention and desire in the field of pure potentiality have infinite organizing power.””That changed everything. I stopped forcing and started trusting, myself, my path, and the process. Against the odds losing my father and grandfather a year apart around my birthday month, I passed all five national board exams and graduated with my Doctorates; being the first in my family achieve such a feat.

Since then, I’ve had the honor of adjusting patients from all walks of life, from newborns to veterans and witnessing incredible transformations. I’ve helped people regain mobility, reduce pain, and reconnect with their own vitality. To helping a individual that was unable to voluntary move his right because severe sciatica and coming in a wheel chair with his wife to walking and riding bike a few weeks later. I’ve also served internationally in Jamaica and Peru, offering chiropractic care in underserved communities and adjusting hundreds of people with just my hands and my heart.

Now, I’ve stepped fully into my purpose as the founder of Prolific Chiropractic. The name is deeply personal. My late father was very prolific, I wanted to pay homage to him. To be prolific means to produce in large quantities, to be fruitful. That’s how I aim to serve: with abundance, with intention, and with heart. Prolific Chiropractic is more than a clinic. It’s a space for restoration. For dignity. For possibility. I believe healing is sacred. I believe pain is a teacher. And I believe purpose is born through perseverance. This isn’t just a career, it’s a calling.

One rooted in everything I’ve lived through and everything I’m still becoming.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I was faced with many obstacles/challenges at a very young age, where I was in the mist of the chaos of losing my mom to prison then being separated from my father and half sibling because I was placed in a foster care system with my siblings. Then later being separated from my siblings that was with me in foster care, placing me further away from them in another foster home then eventually moving to Seattle WA with relatives. Throughout my youth i experienced so much confusion of the right direction that I wanted to pursue, I was never a follower but wanted to guide for the first time my life by a mentor or role model of some sort. Even though i didn’t have all the necessary tools or support in my youth, I always found a way to prevail through all the odds against me.

I remember when I didn’t have the confidence in myself and thought i was not able to be anything in life because of the consistent door closing in my face. Because for one I was being moved around a lot so i didn’t have stabled friendships or home, even though i was staying with relatives in the Seattle i still had to move around a great deal out there. even following into some bad influence from my cousins out there that got me in trouble with the law many times at the age of 8 or 9. I fought with other kids due to the fact i didn’t have my own identity, i wasn’t with my parents, i was a lost child that wanted to find meaning to what is going on.

The journey has been far from smooth, having many lives threaten experiences since my youth until today. I used to have to be in survivor mode most of life and flowed without being anchored to anything but own understanding. I became very observative and realizing that everything is about change and uncertainty in my life. There are many obstacles and other challenges that shaped me into the person I am today; I’m going focus on a few high lights of my life that illustrate the molding of my evolving destiny.

I’m going to shed light on only three major events in my life that impacted me greatly. First being placed into foster care leading me to being neglected mentally and emotionally, which i became very rebellious that got me into so much trouble that caused me to move several times. Including losing the connection with my immediate family but ironically made me but closer to my family after reuniting. They were a huge part of my identity and linked to the way I love today.

Secondly, getting into illegal trouble with my friend that caused me to fall out of honor and respect with myself also my mother. I was placed into law enforcement youth program for juvenile for 10–16-year-old. The program was aim at juvenile age groups that got into illegal trouble and aim to make them into law abiding citizen again. The Individual had to pass mainly key evaluation screening of some sort that is graded on a 1-to-5-point score. They focused on being attentive from the way you interact to the posture you display each encounter throughout the course. I can say this make have much more focused and became a statistic of the streets. After receiving 5 out 5 on each encounter assessments every week, I noticed a different structure starting to be form and I thought much bigger than my certain situation which distance me from my friends because i had a newfound purpose. I am not saying that I didn’t want to hangout or being around my friends, i love them but my path had deviated dramatically after event. Overall, I became driven and focused on being the first in my family to achieve a college diploma. As a reminder each day of my journey as achieved my goal of being the first to receive a college diploma then later being first with a doctorate.

Lastly, is the time I almost lost my life working a summer job in 2015. I used to come home from college to my mom telling to get a summer job while off from school. Lead me to get a position at Community Waste Disposal, basically I became a trash-man. i end up working there other several weeks before a life altering event happened. I remember that day clearly, being on the back left side of the trash truck and being told to remain there because it was our last cul-de-sac on our route. Usually, the days are long and very hot due to the summer heat waves but this day was cool and gloomy. Before arriving to our designated location, the driver hit something in the road while driving on the one-line road, caused for left side of the truck to lift up off of the ground. I am reminded of the sound of truck trying to come to a halt and me lifted in the air with the dumpster truck. The driving was unsuccessful of getting the truck to halt but continued trying to remain control, but we flew into the concrete ditch. While in the air God spoke to me, telling me “Let go, my son, I got you” and once I let go i thrown over the ditch into a grassy field. After I was thrown the dumpster truck landed on the I was on 3-5 sec later. Then receiving chiropractic care through worker comp for only whiplash. That day forever changed my life; I took risk that led me to becoming a chiropractor today after being reintroduced to the profession my senior in undergrad.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Prolific Chiropractic, we provide comprehensive chiropractic care for both humans and animals, serving the communities of Celina, Frisco, Aubrey, McKinney, and the surrounding North Texas areas. Our practice is built on the belief that optimal function comes from proper alignment physically, neurologically, and energetically.

We specialize in neurologically based chiropractic care, focusing on restoring the nervous system’s ability to regulate the body and heal naturally. For humans, this means addressing issues like back pain, neck pain, headaches, stress, poor posture, sports injuries, and more. For animals, primarily dogs and horses. It means improving mobility, supporting recovery from injury, and optimizing performance and quality of life.

What truly sets us apart is the integration of human and animal care under one brand. As a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic with certification in animal chiropractic, I’m able to provide multi-species care that’s tailored, compassionate, and deeply effective. We often work in collaboration with veterinarians and other healthcare professionals to ensure each patient two-legged or four-legged receives well-rounded support.

In addition to in-office visits, I also offer mobile animal chiropractic services, bringing care directly to barns, homes, and boarding facilities. This flexibility helps reduce stress on animals and makes it easier for busy owners to maintain consistent care.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the mission and integrity behind Prolific Chiropractic. Outside of my local practice, I provide chiropractic services through mission work in Peru and Jamaica, serving people who might otherwise never have access to natural healthcare. That heart for service is woven into everything we do here.

We are currently expanding and working to build strong community relationships through collaborations, workshops, wellness education, and strategic partnerships. We’re also focused on increasing visibility for animal chiropractic through platforms like local veterinary partnerships and public education.

Our goal is to not just treat pain, but to educate and empower clients to take ownership of their health and their animals’ well-being. We want our patients to experience proactive, preventative care that improves not only how they feel but how they function.

If you’re looking for a chiropractor who’s hands-on, heart-led, and highly committed to holistic, lasting results whether for yourself or your animal. Prolific Chiropractic is here to serve.

What does success mean to you?
To me, success is about alignment spiritually, mentally, and physically. It’s when your work reflects your values, your lifestyle supports your well-being, and your impact reaches beyond yourself.

I don’t measure success solely by how full my schedule is or how much revenue I generate though growth and sustainability do matter. Real success is found in the lives I help transform, the peace I carry at the end of the day, and how connected I remain to the purpose God placed on my life.

If I’m serving my clients and their animals with excellence, creating space for freedom in my schedule, staying grounded in my faith, maintaining my health, and still making time to give whether through missions, mentorship, or outreach that’s the kind of success I’m striving for.

It’s not about chasing hustle. It’s about building something that honors who I am, reflects what I believe, and leaves people and the world a little better than I found it.
