Today we’d like to introduce you to DrMachelle Foster.
Hi DrMachelle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story all began when I saw myself as late teen always availing myself to help those, I called friend! Giving words of encouragement, a bed or sofa to sleep on when they needed to free themselves from a toxic environment. Giving them my plate of food because they were hungry. It wasn’t until many years later I realized I help others even when I didn’t know I was helping when I was approached by a 13 old young lady who is now in her mid-30’s; asking me to be her mentor because she felt lost after discovering her parents were divorcing. I wanted to make sure she understood the assignment on both ends so I asked her to research “Mentor’ and return in a few days with her mother, and we will explore her request. Well, she executed the assignment, I began mentoring her until the age of 17 1/2.
Sometime later while working at a one of the largest Fortune 500 Companies – out doing charitable work; I was approached by the client about mentorship services. Long story-short, they paid for my background check, and it was boots on the ground from that point forward. What I didn’t know at that time was the passion I didn’t know was there began to sprout and grow by leaps and bounds. I thought to myself, there is a great need for mentorship! There are people that need guidance in their everyday living… they need help with making decisions, setting goals and an ear. These are hurting people out here who really need encouragement, inspirations, truth and a voice! I say voice because many of the client I came across had lost their voice as a result of abuse, shame, insecurity, low self-esteem, trauma and so much more. They didn’t know how to regain their voice, their confidence, their zeal to live again. I realized, I was one of a few that took a stand, availed myself and helped!
I continued helping others through mentorship and coaching both in individual sessions as well as workshops and conferences. During these sessions, I not only learned about those seated before me, I also learned somethings about myself along the way! I learned, what I am doing for others is something I needed when I was younger… this revelation gave me the boost of a lifetime. It gave me such a charge to be all that I can be for myself so that when I extended my hand to others, it was from a pure place! A place of authenticity and truth! I have witnessed so many coaches attempting to help others when they themselves need assistance. Now don’t get me wrong… I am NOT perfect! …and continue to work on my imperfections daily and use the overcome imperfections as a tool, a guide and testament to those I coach. I have learned to also stay in my lane of topic and subject when it comes to mentoring and coaching others. If it is an area I have not encountered or experienced, I would let the client know and if willing; I partner with someone who is a SME to continue assisting them. I don’t just leave them hanging because I value the relationship that has been built.
I have not only taken additional courses to help sharpen my skill, but also to be of better service to my current and future clients. Mentorship should expand beyond goal setting and achievement,
Relationship key! Trust is key! Partnership is key! Integrity is also key!
I have since written and implemented several curriculums to better assist my clients not only in the areas of setting and achieving general goals, but also the ability to dive deeper into themselves. “Getting to the ROOT of the Matters” is what I’d like to call it. I’ve learned many people struggle in areas without resolve because for the most part, they are rooted issues; learned behaviors and generational things they have lived with in their bloodline for decades. Diving deep into the “soil” of a thing helps my clients to first identity the issue, provide them with tools and instructions on how to confront a thing and lastly… overcome it; or as I like to put it “uproot” it once and for all.
This particular program was implemented a few years back and has been very successful in that, some paid to retake the program while referring their family members and close friends and colleagues for next level freedom. I am a firm believer that everyone needs accountability and when you choose to partner with someone to help you along the way; you not only achieve your goals, but you also embrace freedom in your acceleration.
Helping others to step away from what’s comfortable and familiar in order to fully embrace and see the change they desire. The change that builds faith, courage, self-worth and inner peace is all I desire for those who partner with me!
It takes faith, courage, knowing WHO you are and having a genuine love for people to operate as a mentor and coach to others… and intentionally yet strategically becoming something and someone to others that you didn’t have. Being ok with doing things a little different to help others not only find their way but help them by being the FOOTPRINT and FOOTSTEP for and to others.
I have adopted “Truth and Transparency” coaching because those who come to you for service are looking for transparency and truth. – DrMac
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Has this road been easy? Absolutely not! It takes a lot of courage in the midst of setbacks. When your season has dried up for a period of time. When people are not honest and refuse to pay what they agreed to. When you see other coaches manipulating their clients while they make thousands and their clients walk away with no change! When there is competition instead of understanding and operating in your own lane of grace.
It’s a burden when you see people struggling when they don’t have to. When you see and hear people withdraw from the life of being coached and mentored because of what someone prior to you did. It’s disheartening when you know with a doubt – not from a place of pride but humility that you have what someone else needs to help catapult them into their destiny but they refuse to partner because they want change but don’t want change. This road of coaching and mentoring can and hasn’t been smooth BUT I refuse to throw in the towel because I know there are those who will partner to get what they need!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

I am one who is very passionate in what I do! My burden is to those who don’t know who they are as a result of their insecurities, low self-esteem and lack of confidence. Part of my drive is to help others discover who they are so they are no longer stuck in a cycle.
