Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Our parents, John, and Gertrude, founded Brewer’s Dry Cleaning and Laundry in 1993, offering neat wash and fold, dry cleaning, quality alterations, and laundry services. Around 2018, we conceived the idea of leveraging our parent’s cleaning expertise to create a modernized laundry service. After years of learning and planning, we launched Fold DFW in January 2022.
Our goal with Fold DFW is to be a convenient laundry service for individuals and businesses across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Our service is designed to alleviate the challenges and time constraints associated with traditional laundry tasks. We are offer online ordering, cashless payments, and pick-up and delivery 6 days a week. Florence believes that “taking what our parents started 30 years ago and pivoting to meet modern needs is a blessing”.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For years we researched new software and clothing care methods. Once we figured out the best to fulfill our needs and allow customers to create orders with ease, getting started was seamless. However, corporate competition makes it challenging for a small business like us to get noticed. The greatest struggle has always been marketing. We’re a family operation, with a small marketing budget, and the creation and consistency of marketing falls on us.

Fold DFW is a proud family-owned, local, woman-owned, and minority-owned business that provides top-notch laundry services. Our parents kept their doors open for 30 years due to the TLC they showed their customers and their customers’ clothes. We aspire to build on our parents’ legacy and be known as a company that not only provides a convenient service but also handles your garments just as delicately as we handle our own.
When we pick up your order, we don’t know if we’re handling a concert tee you cherish, a favorite date night dress, or your most expensive pajamas, but we promise to handle them all with care. Ultimately, we know laundry is everyone’s least favorite chore. So, our motto is “Take Fold DFW for a spin cycle,” so you can focus on other important things.
Another attribute is that we are an eco-friendly business. We employ environmentally friendly laundry practices, including the use of eco2go 2-in-1 reusable bags to eliminate single use disposable plastic bags. Our standard Arm & hammer detergent is perfume free, dye free, and free of harsh chemicals. This great for sensitive skin. However, you can upgrade your spin cycle to an Eros detergent made of plant-based ingredients. Both detergents are safe for the environment and safe for you!
How do you define success?
There are a couple keys to our success. Ultimately, we desire for Fold DFW to become a household name by increasing repeat customers, weekly and bi-weekly laundry subscribers in our coverage areas. This will let us know our service is truly reliable. Other indicators of success are growing our staff due to demand, collaborating with more local businesses and property management companies, and introducing linen rentals to our list of services.
