Community Highlights: Meet Francisco Mares of Proactive Air Conditioning

Today we’d like to introduce you to Francisco Mares.

Hi Francisco, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I fell into the HVAC field shortly after high school and actually fell in love with it. Struggled to learn the ins and outs of the industry to start off but here we are now. After working for companies in the industry for 15+ years I noticed more and more customers doubting my diagnosis or recommendations. After educating those customers a little more about how HVAC works and why things happen, I was able to dig deeper and find out that the doubts and trust issues were due to the previous bad experiences they have had with other HVAC technicians/companies. This motivated me to start an HVAC business and create trustworthy long term relationships with our customers. Our customers are confident in our knowledge and abilities to take care of their HVAC needs.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was tough to start off without a customer base but honesty and high quality work definitely gets word of mouth going and I am very thankful for that.

Proactive Air Conditioning was founded in 2022 to bring something better to Dallas-area homeowners. We offer residential and commercial HVAC service, replacements, and new construction.
Too often, people are pushed into expensive replacements they don’t actually need—while basic repairs and honest solutions are overlooked. The industry has become flooded with upsells, rushed jobs, and service that puts profits over people. We know homeowners deserve better and that’s what sets us apart. Honest, high quality work at affordable prices.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Google is great but I believe word of mouth is still the best for long term relationships with customers, and that’s exactly what we want with our customers. Honesty and quality work spreads on its own and that has been a tremendous help with our growth.
