Community Highlights: Meet Georgia Swain of Redeluxe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Georgia Swain.

Hi Georgia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Our story starts at a little Bible college in Dallas where my husband and I met, Christ for the nations institute. We fell in love, got married, and moved to Amarillo, Texas, upon graduating in 2018 as my Husband had accepted a role as a Youth Pastor at a local church.

It was an exciting move getting to see my husband flourish in his gifts and calling and serve the community. However, the story was a little different for me. I came to America on a student visa and was in the process of applying for my green card which meant that I couldn’t get a real job. As a girl who valued work, and hard work at that, it was a great challenge for me. So, I found a local family that paid me a few hours per week to let me babysit their newborn so I could at least make some extra money and not just sit around the house all day waiting for Hunter to get home. As sweet as it was taking care of their little boy, it still left me feeling sort of purposeless.

While I wrestled internally with this unease, I still went on living and enjoying our new life together but still in the back of mind looking for some way to work and do something purposeful (at the time we loved watching shark tank so I was always trying to think of a new invention lol). One day, however, I was in the mood for a little therapy (retail therapy) and decided I wanted a new Louis Vuitton bag. The problem was we were recent college graduates living on a youth pastor’s salary (granted it was great pay for our age still) so I couldn’t afford it. Thankfully I had been gifted a small Louis Vuitton bag from my parents when I turned 16 that I had kept over the years and since I wanted a different style more than the one, I had, I decided to try and sell it. After some searching, I found some Facebook groups with tens and hundreds of thousands of women involved and thought I’d find a buyer there… I DID. Since that day, 3 years ago, we have done over $7 Million Dollars in sales, amassed nearly 60k followers, and have worked with some of the top luxury influencers in the world, all glory to God!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The success has definitely come with a great price to pay. Countless 15–16-hour days, waking up in the middle of the night to speak with vendors overseas during their work hours, many sacrifices with family, fighting back all the Nay-sayers, dealing with scammers, and so much more. I think people often romanticize entrepreneurship and success, and I wouldn’t want anything else, but it certainly comes with a great price.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Redeluxe, we specialize in the buying and selling of authentic ultra-luxury bags and accessories from brands such as Chanel, Hermes, and Louis Vuitton. Our mission at Redeluxe is to Redeem Luxury Resale. The luxury resale market is full of scams and fakes. Our goal is to provide the most top-notch and trusted luxury experience to every customer. We treat every customer the way they deserve to be treated and we take authentication very seriously (having never sold a fake item in our history).

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Since starting this journey 3 years ago, we have learned so many valuable lessons that have shaped both our business and our character. I think the lesson I hold most dear to my heart is to be faithful and efficient with whatever thing God gives you to do in life. I believe that when we steward things will and give it our best, The Lord always blesses us with more. Our business is a testament to this biblical principle as we’ve seen the fruit every step of the way. I believe that success, however big or small, will always follow our faithfulness and excellence.
