Today we’d like to introduce you to Greg Wofford.
Hi Greg, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Years ago, before I came to truly know Christ, I was about as far from being a follower of Him as you could get. I was playing in a hard rock band, hair down to the middle of my back, opening for national acts. Needless to say, my mind wasn’t on Jesus. I believed He existed, but I definitely wasn’t following Him.
Fast forward to the beginning of my journey with Christ. At that time, I could’ve easily been described as a “back row Baptist”—last one to come in, first one to leave. But my wife Lisa and I began attending a church nearby, and we eventually got involved with the worship team. Honestly, without Lisa encouraging me, I never would have considered it, because I had quit music years before. I truly believe God used her to push me out of my comfort zone, and without her, I’d probably still be sitting in that back row.
After several years, we sensed God calling us somewhere else. Once again, it took Lisa’s encouragement for me to step out and actually listen to what God was telling us. We visited many churches in search of a new home, but nothing felt right—until one day I passed by a church I had only been to before because it was our polling place for elections. I had never once thought about attending there. When we finally visited, we met some of the sweetest people I’ve ever known. They quickly became so dear to my heart. On days when I feel worn down, just being with my Harmony Fellowship family lifts me up more than words can describe. To me, they are “pure sweetness.”
Fast forward to today—I went from being the guy hiding in the back row to one of the four Elders in our church. I honestly have no idea how that happened, because it was never something I was seeking. But God has a way of putting us in places that stretch us and move us out of our comfort zones. My only advice is this: listen to Him. After all, He is our Creator, and He knows exactly where we need to be.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been many obstacles and challenges, but the two biggest have been: first, the church had gone through a split shortly before we arrived, and second, the recent transition from a deacon-led model to an elder-led model, which has proven to be a challenge.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Harmony Fellowship Church?

What are your plans for the future?
The future goals are to continue being a Bible based church that loves Jesus and loves people, with that everything else falls in place because our God is good.
