Hi Gregg L., can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I worked for over twenty years in corporate and business to business sales, pursuing graduate school in midlife to earn a masters and doctorate degree from Trinity Theological Seminary. I have been employed for nine years as a workplace chaplain at Marketplace Chaplains, and pursued dual certifications as a life coach while pursuing my doctorate degree.
I am the author of Times of Perseverance: Hope and Healing on the Battlefields of Life, a compelling narrative chronicling my survival from personal and family traumatic brain injury. My brother Todd sustained a severe traumatic brain injury and I was critically injured by a moving automobile, sustaining a traumatic brain injury and a severe leg injury.
Between March 2020 and March 2022, I lost five family, three friends and a seminary professor who was like a mentor to me. I received grief counseling and became a hospice chaplain where I provide pastoral care and support to the terminally ill and their family.
Beyond Perseverance LLC, provides individual and group life coaching, especially life balance coaching, life transition coaching and biblical life coaching. Moreover, I partnered with a licensed professional counselor and we lead workshops on Self-Care in the workplace.
I teach in the counseling department in the e learning program at Louisiana Baptist University & Seminary. I possess an indefatigable zeal to read, to learn, to reflect theologically, philosophically and psychologically. Hence I have dedicated my life to the spiritual, human and learning condition.
I am a dynamic speaker and speak at conferences, businesses and organizations.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Transitioning from corporate, business to business sales to chaplaincy and teaching, especially being self-employed as a life coach and speaker was challenging because this entailed juggling bi-vocational employment, while initiating marketing calls and scheduling appointments with businesses throughout Dallas-Fort Worth. I made several thousand cold calls by telephone and learned to pace myself, to respect the process.
Moreover, my wife and I lost several family members and I am thankful that I was working with a kind and caring grief counselor.
The road to success was paved with blood, sweat and tears.
