Hi gregory, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Gregory Dion Pounds Jr. I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, with my sister, Leterion Pounds. I have always had a passion for cooking, which is a significant part of our culture. I decided to take my passion to the next level by attending the Culinary Arts Institute to refine my skills.

During my time at the institute, I decided to focus on creating a unique cheesecake experience. I have always loved the texture and sweetness of cheesecake, and I wanted to create something that would change the way cheesecake lovers experience this dessert. After 10 months of experimentation and hard work, I developed a high-quality, luxurious cheesecake ice cream that does not contain milk.

Starting a new business is challenging, especially when it comes to advertising. I had to work hard to get my product noticed, giving away free samples and sending countless emails to food influencers in the hopes of growing my brand. Unfortunately, many influencers turned me down, which was discouraging.

Despite these setbacks, I persevered and created a website, www.gregcheescakery.com. HoweverDuring the past four months, I did not receive any orders, which led me to a point of wanting to give up. However, I maintained my faith in God and persevered, hoping for better days. An influencer named Big Shawn/DFW FOODIE provided me with an opportunity to showcase my cheesecake. After he posted a positive review on his Instagram, numerous other influencers reached out to me, which boosted my confidence in the uniqueness of my product. I realized that I needed to find the right people to introduce my product to. Consequently, I returned to the kitchen and expanded my product line. I took the next step by approaching restaurants to offer them my products. Currently, my products are available at Menusix, a restaurant located at 621 N Hampton Rd suite 113, DeSoto, TX 75115, which is known for its exceptional fusion cuisine. Furthermore, I have been actively reaching out to event and pop-up shop planners to increase my visibility in the DFW metroplex. I understand that balancing a business with personal life can be challenging, especially in the current economic climate. However, I emphasize the importance of maintaining faith and perseverance. Remember, success often depends on building relationships and finding the right connections. It only takes one person to recognize your potential and help your company flourish into one of the most successful enterprises. Therefore, I encourage people to keep striving and realizing their full potential.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Throughout my entrepreneurial journey, I have encountered various challenges. I have experienced theft from restaurants, difficulties in securing consignment deals, and feedback suggesting that my website’s prices are too high. Additionally, I have faced requests for discounts from friends and family who do not fully comprehend the effort and investment required to grow my business and procure supplies.
