Today we’d like to introduce you to J.D. Glaeser.
Hi J.D., so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am an Arlington Fire Fighter and avid Amateur bodybuilder. I have been obsessed with the gym since beginning sports at a young age. I fell in love with bodybuilding after my sports career ended and it was a match made in heaven. I competed in my early 20’s and then began my training for my now career of being a professional fire fighter. I took a long hiatus from competitive bodybuilding, but I never stopped training. I always felt more at home in hardcore garage style gyms after being introduced to the original MetroFlex gym in Arlington, TX. I spent the next 20ish years in these kind of gyms. I always wanted to own my own gym and eventually I got to a place financially where I was able to make my dream come true! I partnered with Brian Dobson the owner of the original MetroFlex gym to open my own MetroFlex here in Mansfield, TX! The area was very underserved for this type of training facility so I saw my opportunity! We have just celebrated our 2nd anniversary this month and as much as things have changed and gotten better, one thing remains. The hardcore roots of this world known brand are alive and well in Mansfield Texas!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Owning a privately owned gym is difficult because the corporate gyms are able to offer more things for less due their increased buying power and name recognition, but we have thrived on a smaller group of dedicated members and bodybuilding enthusiasts that call our gym home!
We’ve been impressed with MetroFlex Gym Mansfield , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are well known iconic brand in the hardcore workout and bodybuilding community. The gym is 6000 square feet designed specifically for the hardcore gym enthusiasts. Our culture and environment is second to known and we continue to gain ground in our space.
What are your plans for the future?
Our 10 year plans includes building our own custom facility with more space and more hardcore offerings for our dedicated members.
