Opened 144 Academy in 2020

In Jan 2025 I opened my Academy, before this I was bouncing around and teaching in different locations.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t at all. Some of the biggest struggles was learning the difference between working on the business and working in the business. As a business owner some of the biggest struggle is getting caught up on the day to day task in the business thinking your progressing but in reality your just stagnant. The reason is because your working in your business and not actually on building it to run on its own. Another huge struggle is asking for help, as a business owner we get caught up in the vision so much that your afraid to share it or ask help to get there that it makes the process slower. Once you learn how to ask for help it gets easier.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a martial arts academy, specializing in Nogi Jiu-Jitsu, Self-Defense, and fitness. We offer multiple classes throughout the week for anyone who wants to learn how to defend themselves or are looking for new hobby to dive into. We teach all ages from toddlers to adults, All skills levels are welcomed here from zero experience to pro level, we have something for everyone. What makes us different is our curriculum and the way we teach it. The way we teach here is different compared to other gyms. We teach by systems and not just random techniques. Our goal is to show the big picture and give you the tools to paint it. This type of teaching makes it easy for anyone to come in any day of the week jump in class and not feel lost. Doesn’t matter what skill level they may be. I want the people to know we are a welcoming environment and our goal is not to scare you but to teach you and empower you through martial arts by showing you actual skills that will help you evolve on and off the mats. We are millennials who love to train and have a good time doing it.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Yes, come in open minded, be willing to learn, and have fun doing it.
