Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmin Dice.
Jasmin, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Jasmin Dice. I’m 24 years old and from Killeen, Texas. I recently moved to Dallas about two months ago. I am the owner of Redolence Essentials Candle Company, LLC. I’ve always had a love for candles and home fragrances. I believe that they have the power to shift the energy in a room, which is important when creating your ideal atmosphere for your home. The initial idea of candle-making came from my interest in healing oils that helped with anxiety, depression, insomnia, and more.
During this time, I was juggling a lot of emotions that lead to post-grad depression, anxiety, and sleepless nights. I used the blends that I created to help ease the intense sadness that I was feeling. I desperately needed an outlet to help me see it through, and candle-making was that. At first, I didn’t have any plans to sell my candles because they were something that I created for myself and my personal coping. It wasn’t until a friend paid me to make a candle that I began thinking from a business aspect. I began selling candles in my college town of Nacogdoches, Texas (SFA alumna) for $5 to just about anyone who was willing to support. There was no structure, no organization, or even a business plan. My only plan was to heal myself and make money in the process. The first few months were dedicated to obtaining all of business-savvy materials that I lacked, including marketing, website, a plan, etc. After doing months of research, I launched Redolence Essentials Candle Co as an official business on April 4, 2020. From there, I sold over 200 candles in my first month and the rest is history.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t believe that anything worth having comes easy. At the time of my launch, I worked full-time as a branch manager and struggled to balance my work life, entrepreneur life, and my personal/social life. This often left room for lackadaisical mistakes, longer processing times, and delayed candle releases. The lack of balance in each aspect of my life reflected in my business, whether it be a decrease in sales, website visits, marketing posts, or anything the required time to complete.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Redolence Essentials Candle Co is a Texas-based luxury candle brand. We believe that candles are an essential part of enhancing your home atmosphere and an extension of your interior design. Our candles are hand-poured, made with essentials oils and 100% coconut wax. All candles can be used as a massage oil when melted. Our customer service is what sets us apart from other businesses. Since day one, we’ve been working to expand our product offerings and make our customer’s experience even better. We’re proud of how far we’ve come yet remain committed to performing even better. Our collections are carefully selected, with customers in mind.
What I’m most proud of brand-wise is the growth and consistency. I run Redolence entirely by myself, so I’m proud that I’ve been able to remain consistent during times that I’ve wanted to take a break. As life continues to happen, Redolence continues to grow in profits and new customers across the United States.
Any big plans?
Expect big things for Redolence in the near future, including sales, giveaways, and pop-up shops! I’m most excited about the pop-ups because I’ve never been a part of or hosted one before. There won’t be too many changes but expect seasonal collections coming in the fall.
