Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Spence.
Jessica, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
What started as a simple love for baking and creating beautiful things quickly turned into something much bigger. I made my first batch of cake pops for my daughter’s 2nd birthday — a mix of sprinkles, sugar, and creativity — and before I knew it, friends and family were asking for more.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not always — but every challenge has been worth it. When I started Cake Ballerina, it was just me, a kitchen full of sprinkles, and a big dream. I had to learn everything as I went — from late-night baking and last-minute orders to figuring out packaging, social media, and running a business on top of family life.
There were times I doubted myself, wondered if I could keep up, or if people would even find my little business. But every message from a happy customer, every “these made my day,” reminded me why I started.
Every challenge taught me something — patience, creativity, and how much joy a simple cake pop can bring. And even though it’s been far from easy, I wouldn’t trade this journey for anything. 💕
As you know, we’re big fans of Cake Ball-erina. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Cake Ball-erina, we believe treats should do more than just taste good — they should make people smile. We specialize in handcrafted cake pops that are as beautiful as they are delicious, designed for every celebration big or small. Each one is made from scratch with care, creativity, and attention to detail — from color palettes to custom themes that match your event perfectly.
What sets us apart is our heart behind the work. We don’t just make desserts; we create tiny pieces of joy meant to bring people together. Whether it’s a birthday, wedding, baby shower, or team celebration, every order is made with love and a personal touch.
We’re most proud of how far we’ve come — from a home kitchen experiment to a trusted local favorite. Our customers know us for our quality, creativity, and reliability, but also for how much we genuinely care about making their moments special.
More than anything, I want people to know that Cake Ball-erina was built on passion, hard work, and community — one cake pop at a time. 💕
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest advice is to just start. Don’t wait until everything is perfect — it never will be. You’ll learn so much by doing. Every order, every late night, every mistake teaches you something valuable.
Be patient with yourself. Growth takes time, and success doesn’t happen overnight. Keep showing up, stay consistent, and don’t be afraid to ask for help or try new things.
I also wish I had known how important it is to believe in your own creativity. There will be moments of doubt — we all have them — but your unique style and voice are what make your business special. Stay true to that, even when trends come and go.
And finally, celebrate the small wins. Every happy customer, every compliment, every milestone matters. It’s those moments that remind you why you started in the first place. 💕
