Community Highlights: Meet Jessica Sublet of Graze A Board, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Sublet

Hi Jessica, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I use to be a flight attendant for a major airline and I had the opportunity to fly corporate. While flying corporate I was designated to a professional hockey team, which was busy during the hockey season but on off season I had a lot of time. During this time off I was looking on Pinterest for a side hustle, I saw that people were making cheese boards, selling them and created full businesses out of this. I thought to myself I can do that! Around Thanksgiving 2019 we were hosting people at our home, I made a few boards as appetizers. Everyone was raving about the boards, I could sell and people would pay. I thought to myself, can I!? This is where it began. I posted on Frisco business moms group on Facebook and created my first payable board for Thanksgiving and the word of mouth spread.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For the most part it has been a smooth road. Some of the struggles have been, Starting a business while the world was shutting down for Covid. Business at that point was actually getting busier and I should’ve probably hired people to help me but I kept thinking we will have to shut down soon away because of all the restrictions implemented and no gathering etc. I was working 12-16 hour days at that point a few months later when the world reopened the business slowed down which was good for me because I was burning out. The slow down meant less money and at that point this business was my main source of income as I was laid off from the airline industry. I also struggled with the motivation to stay creative and pushing out content.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Authenticity, consistency and adaptability I think are most important for success. Authenticity, your brand is nothing without you. People don’t just buy a product they buy and connect to a story. Show up as yourself and ppl will connect with you. Challenges are inevitable, remaining open and adaptable I think are key roles to a quick bounce back.
