Today we’d like to introduce you to John.
Hi John, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Chicago. I worked a lot of odd jobs including comic book store clerk, funeral director and wedding photographer, I went to school for film so i could learn screen writing and directing, but the pandemic came and those types of jobs fell away. I started making comics in 2020. I was a student in Scott Snyders comic book writing course and quickly fell in love with the process of making comics. My first comic was Lockjaw and Pistolero the story about a Mariachi singer that battles the supernatural with a silver stringed guitar. From there i went on to create about 12 different series spanning 50 plus issues.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road. When i set out I thought I could sell these concepts to some bigger publishers turns out Latine stories are not everyones cup of tea. Along with that is the finanical burden of making these comics.
