Hi Jordan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve spent more than 30 years in real estate as a licensed Realtor and Real Estate Broker, and throughout that time I’ve had a front row seat to how homes, communities, and home design and desires continue to evolve. What that experience has taught me is that real estate isn’t just about transactions—it’s about helping people make thoughtful decisions that serve them well today and well into the future.
Over the years, I’ve developed strong negotiation skills to help my clients protect their investment and achieve the best possible outcome. But just as important, I’ve learned to think proactively anticipating changes in the market, shifts in how people live, and the growing importance of sustainability in housing.
That forward thinking approach led to my developing Bois D’arc Group, a homebuilding company focused on new home construction, remodeling, and staging. Through Bois D’arc, we’re able to take a comprehensive view of a property’s lifecycle—from how it’s built or renovated, to how it’s presented, managed, and maintained—with an emphasis on quality, efficiency, and long term value.
My team and I are very hands on. We help prepare homes to be show ready, and at Jordan McMakin Realty, Inc., we maintain our own staging furnishings. This not only helps reduce unnecessary up front expenses for homeowners but also allows us to market properties efficiently for top dollar.
Sustainability has become an even larger focus of my work in recent years. Living and working in North Texas, I saw firsthand how water restrictions are becoming more common and more severe. That realization led me to start a new business with Texas Tuff Turf Solutions. I saw a clear need for smart, water conscious alternatives that allow homeowners to maintain attractive, functional outdoor spaces while significantly reducing water usage and monthly utility costs.
Whether through real estate, homebuilding, property management, or innovative solutions like Texas Tuff Turf, my goal is always the same: to offer options that support conservation, reduce costs, and enhance long term livability.
At every stage, I’m focused on helping people make informed, future focused decisions—ones that are good for their homes, their finances, family and the communities they live in.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road—and I’d say many of the challenges played an important role in how I operate today.
I built my career while raising two children as a single mother, which meant there was very little margin for error. I had to be disciplined, strategic, and consistent, because both my family and my business depended on it. That reality shaped how I approach decision making: long term thinking, risk management, and sustainability weren’t optional—they were essential.
Being a woman in a traditionally male dominated industry also required a certain level of resolve. I had to establish credibility quickly, stay firm in negotiations, and deliver consistent results. That experience strengthened my communication style, my preparation, and my leadership approach.
More recently, sustainability has presented another layer of challenge. In North Texas, increasing water restrictions pushed me to rethink how outdoor spaces are designed and maintained. Launching Texas Tuff Turf Solutions meant entering a new segment, educating clients, and solving a problem that wasn’t being addressed effectively in the market.
So no, the road wasn’t smooth—but those challenges sharpened my ability to lead, anticipate change, and build businesses that focus on long term value rather than short term gains. That perspective continues to guide how I work today.

Please tell us more about your business or organization. What should we know?
I started Texas Tuff Turf Solutions because I wanted to help people enjoy their outdoor spaces without the constant upkeep that comes with traditional grass. What began as a small idea has grown into a business built on craftsmanship, honesty, and genuine care for the people I serve.
One thing I’m especially proud of is that a large part of my business comes from referrals. When someone enjoys their experience enough to recommend me to a friend, neighbor, or family member, that tells me I’m doing things the right way.

I specialize in premium artificial turf installations — pet areas, putting greens, pool surrounds, play spaces, and full backyard transformations. Over time, I’ve become known for:

They tell me I’ve earned someone’s trust, and that the work I’m doing is making a real impact in people’s homes and lives.
