Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Clark
Hi Joshua, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Sculpted by Faith: The Transformative Journey of Roses
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, but raised in Texas, Roses embodies a unique fusion of bold confidence and artistic depth. As a pastor’s kid (PK), faith was always a part of my life, though the personal journey with it was anything but conventional. I like to say my confidence was born in the big state of Texas, while my creativity was planted from the artistic roots of Memphis.
From an early age, I identified as introverted, nerd, who often felt out of sync with those around me. Struggling with social anxiety and depression led me to withdraw for self-preservation. Anxiety, depression, and fear kept me in chains for most of my life until I hit rock bottom. But before we get to that bottom let me introduce the trails that made me into the man you see today.
From the Court to the Canvas
Athletics played a pivotal role in my early upbringing. Basketball was more than a sport—it was my idol and ticket for the future. I dedicated myself to excelling on the court, earning opportunities to play at the collegiate level, tour overseas, and compete in semi-professional leagues. However, injuries ultimately drew an early curtain to my basketball career.
At a crossroads, I turned back to my roots—faith and art. I always had a love for art, and creative spaces. Minoring Art during my undergraduate studies, taking classes, exploring museums, and studying techniques. Alongside visual art, poetry had long been a quiet refuge, a space where I could express emotions, pose difficult questions, and navigate personal struggles. I’ve never been one for casual conversation; I prefer to observe and contribute insight when necessary. Poetry became my way of processing emotions, healing, grieving, and growing.
Poetry, in many ways, became my second love—right after Jesus. As I transitioned away from basketball, I redirected my discipline toward creative expression, leading to the birth of a vision that would later become Sculpted Roses Company.
Hitting Rock Bottom and Rising Again
Despite my artistic and spiritual inclinations, fear held me back from fully stepping into my purpose. The turning point came at my lowest moment—facing a failed marriage, a DWI, and a mental health crisis. I was at rock bottom, holding on by a thread. I had been trying to do life on my own without God, and all it did was run me in circles.
It was during this time that I voluntarily sought help, enrolling in the Denton Freedom House program, which supports individuals struggling with addiction, homelessness, and personal hardships through faith-based healing. That experience changed everything. I rediscovered my faith, my purpose, and my confidence. I learned to rely on God rather than myself.
With renewed clarity and determination, this is where I began rebuilding. After completing probation and finalizing the divorce, I secured a job that allowed me to lay the groundwork for the God given vision. Then, on Christmas of 2023, I made a pivotal decision: no longer would fear dictate my future. Under the mentorship of Christoph Jenkins, founder of the Poetry Business Network, I took the leap and officially registered my LLC, bringing Sculpted Roses Company to life.
The Birth of Sculpted Roses Company
Sculpted Roses Company is more than just a business—it is a reflection of my journey, passion, and purpose. The company merges with my love for fashion, poetry, mental health advocacy, faith, and art under one cohesive brand. Before, these passions were scattered across different platforms. Now, they exist under one umbrella, allowing me to fully embrace the vision God has given me.
The company specializes in curating transformative experiences through life coaching and the arts. Services include clothing brand collaborations, commissioned art, creative writing workshops, commissioned poetry, public speaking, songwriting, event performances, brand advertising, and life coaching. Within its first year, Sculpted Roses Company was featured in major events, concerts, brand collaborations, speaking engagements, and competitions, laying the foundation for even greater impact in 2025 and beyond.
For all things creative I go by Roses, introducing my business not as someone escaping past pain, but as one stepping boldly into future success. I no longer operate from a place of fear, but from faith and purpose.
A Leader in the Arts and Poetry Community
Beyond my entrepreneurial endeavors, I have established myself as a dynamic voice in the poetry and art scenes. I serve as the Texas Chapter Leader of the Poetry Business Network, a community founded by Christoph Jenkins, an active member of The Unsealed, led by mental health advocate and former sports analyst Lauren Brill. I am also a part of the Rhythm of Poets collective in Denton, Texas.
My creative journey has led to performances and features in various poetry, art, and fashion showcases across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Notable appearances include Mike Guinn Entertainment, Lost Poet Lounge, Love Liberations and Other Longings, and the Origin of Thought. I have also opened for former Dallas Poet Laureate Joaquin Zihuatanejo and spoken at North Texas Giving Day and Teen Flow Youth Ministry in Midland, Texas.
As a self-published author, Roses continues to spread messages of healing, faith, and transformation through his poetry, impacting audiences through his thoughtful and powerful words.
Looking Ahead
With a Master’s in Psychology an emphasis on Life Coaching, Roses balances his role as a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional alongside his work as a Creative Specialist. As the founder of Sculpted Roses Company, he aims to expand his impact, using his platform to transform, inspire, and empower others through faith, art, and self-expression.
This story is one of resilience, transformation, and unwavering faith—proof that even at rock bottom mentally, financially, and spiritually new beginnings are possible.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not smooth at all but the lessons I’ve learned have paved the potholes. My DWI, divorce, and mental health made for some very tall orders to be addressed. These are things that could only be healed by time and self-reflection. Then on top of these conquering the fear of being in the public eye, giving opinions of others more weight than it deserved, and learning how to operate in my God given confidence and not my own…these were great areas of focus and growth since the year of 2022.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
What is Sculpted Roses Company? We facilitate businesses, organizations, and individuals on the journey of growth, crafting unforgettable experiences, by harnessing the power of life coaching and the arts to further establish an impactful future. Practically that looks like clothing brand collaborations, commissioned art, creative writing workshops, public speaking, song writing, events speaker, commissioned poetry, brand advertisement/awareness, life coaching, and many other services.
We specialize in signature poems (poetry form of album single, school song, theme), creative writing workshops, and commissioned art. But most notably known for poetry and artwork.
Our business is different because we operate from the root of creativity but can mold to whatever another business, organization, or individual needs. Starting with creativity gives us the professional flexibility to enter in every room without limits. And if nothing is truly impossible why would one limit themselves?
We are most proud of the relationships built with those we have partnered with and commitment to share the raw truth to help others have the opportunity to learn from trials, pain, and growth in a creative way. The opportunity for impact drives me when I am weak, knowing it operates under my life purpose drives the vision.
I want readers to know that poetry is only as limited as you make it. A lot of people don’t realize the impact and roots poetry has in everyday life, so when it is brought up in common conversation it often gets dismissed. But if we go back to the history of poetry it can be found in the Bible, poetry was once something esteemed among philosophers, and over time it transformed into hip hop, music, books, movies, commercials, ads, jokes, and the list goes on. A lot of what we know today derived from the roots of poetry. So, part of my mission within my business and Texas Chapter Leader of the Poetry Business Network is to bring more awareness to the possibilities of poetry being used as a service, healing, curriculum, and so forth.
