Today we’d like to introduce you to JR Kitchens.
Hi JR, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started in medical IT sales in 1995, working for a large dental dealer. I worked for them until 2010 in sales and as a branch manager. I moved back to DFW in 2010, started DDSComputers in 2012 providing network management, cybersecurity, cabling and hardware to dental and small medical offices throughout North Texas. Currently we serve over 300 offices and have 7 employees.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a steady road but in the beginning there were some struggles with financing as I did not want to get into a mountain of debt. We have experienced steady growth, made it through the pandemic without losing any employees nor missing any payroll. Every year I invest in some kind of business growth plan, some have not worked out and some have been fruitful.
We’ve been impressed with DDSComputers, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
DDSComputers provides IT services to dental and small medical offices throughout North Texas.. We specialize in the dental industry as that has been my background for 30+ years. We offer services from cabling a new ground up office to monthly maintenance of their network, backups, cybersecurity and new hardware. I am most proud of the comments I get about my team from customers who say they are kind and helpful and most importantly they do not “talk over their head” when explaining what is happening with their computers.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a shy and quiet young dude. I grew up in a small town outside of Waco, Tx and was interested in outdoor activities, mainly soccer. We moved to DFW in 1984 when I started high school. I witnessed the birth of computers and the internet, so seeing our world change technologically from the 80s to now has been amazing. My current interests are BBQ, gardening and soccer.
