Hi JuNene, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I have always been interested in natural things, mixing concoctions to help heal any dis-ease I may have had, from headaches to cramps to allergies and energy issues. I was certain that I was a practicing Herbalist years ago. In 2018 when my brother had a stroke and heart attack leaving him in a vegetative state, I used my knowledge as a Social Emotional Specialist and Certified Life Coach specializing in resilience and emotional stability to concoct intentional remedies to help provide emotional nursing for him. I had a diffuser going in his room every day, I rubbed oils on the bottom of his feet daily, spoke positive words, and arranged meditative tracks for his hearing healing therapy. All of his lobes were damaged, but he still possessed the ability to hear and feel. This taught me how powerful my techniques were and how much I should share them with the world. In March 2022, I opened Muhimu Oils LLC (pronounced moo-hee-moo) which is Swahili for essential. I have been sharing my healing modalities with others that are a combination of what I know, what I’ve experienced working with my brother, and what I am learning now as I study to earn my Doctorate in Natural Medicine.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle was learning to use my opposition to create opportunity and be vulnerable enough to share my story with others so they could understand the pureness of my profession and my commitment to wellness but relate to my brokenness. I wrote a book to highlight some of the struggles that I faced up until my now point called Unstuck and Unbothered. In it, I highlight how it made me feel to watch my brother, who I had cared for in mind, body, and spirit, die right before my eyes. This was the ultimate prompting that caused me to really open my gift up to the world through my herbal medicine shop, not because he died but because my healing modalities were so instrumental in helping him live longer than the doctors expected that it taught me the power of healing.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I combine herb and oil remedies to help heal dis-ease and put you in a place of wellness. What sets me apart from others is that I am also a Social Emotional Specialist and practicing Life Coach. I use these elements to help create more than just a product but a plan that is not merely reactive to what may be ailing you but is proactive to prevent you from consistently ailing. I specialize in a total mind, body, and spirit experience that is not only the absence of sickness or dis-ease but the present of wellness and internal healing.
I’m most proud of the way I name my products so that there is no doubt as to how they function. For example, one of my sprays is called Chill Out because that’s exactly the intent when you spray it. Anxiety and stress have to stop and Chill Out.
I want readers to know that I am human, and I understand what the range of emotions can do to the body, but more than that, I believe in the transformative power of being your own healer by using what is natural. I bring that element to everything I create.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I feel it’s most important to be relatable and authentic. People want to know that you aren’t just selling them a product but an experience. I don’t believe I can sell a good experience unless I’ve experienced it, and my humanity shines through my explanation of that experience.
