Community Highlights: Meet Justin Kempf of Executive Functional Healing LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Kempf

Hi Justin , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In 2004, I transitioned out of the United States Marine Corps. At that time, I was facing a number of health issues, including gut problems, anxiety, depression, mold sickness, and leaky gut. Unfortunately, I wasn’t receiving the help I needed through the VA system. This led me to begin exploring holistic healing methods. I dove deep into learning about different remedies and began experimenting with various approaches. Over time, I managed to alleviate many of the symptoms I was dealing with.

One of the challenges I faced was being prescribed benzodiazepines for anxiety and sleep, but eventually, it stopped working. Realizing I couldn’t rely on medication any longer, I made the difficult decision to stop taking it. The withdrawal was tough my fight-or-flight response was constantly triggered, and I was in a state of chronic anxiety and depression. I could barely leave my house. However, after several years of exploring holistic remedies, I finally started feeling better, and that’s when I knew I wanted to focus solely on natural healing methods moving forward only considering medication if absolutely necessary.

During this transition, I struggled with severe sleep deprivation, averaging only 1-2 hours of sleep per night for nearly two years, which led to hypothyroidism and pre diabetes. Thank fully, through natural healing practices, I was able to turn those conditions around as well. This entire journey sparked my passion for holistic health and helping others. Motivated by my own transformation, I pursued further education and certification, learning from experts like Dr. Stephen Cabral, who has been a mentor to me. It’s been a rewarding journey, and I’m dedicated to supporting others in finding healing through natural methods.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Covered in my story.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
My view on risk-taking has evolved over time. I believe that risk is often a necessary part of growth, both personally and professionally. In the context of my journey, there have been several moments where I had to take significant risks in order to move forward. One of the biggest risks I took was stepping away from traditional medical treatments and medications to pursue a more holistic approach to healing, especially when I faced challenges with my own health. At the time, it felt uncertain, and there were no guarantees that it would work. But I knew that I had to trust the process and take that leap to regain control of my health.

Another risk I took was transitioning from a career in the military to starting my own business in the holistic health space. It was a shift that required me to learn new skills, invest in education, and build something from the ground up. There were many unknowns, but I was driven by a passion to help others achieve the same level of healing I had experienced.

While I wouldn’t necessarily consider myself a reckless risk-taker, I do recognize the value of calculated risks. I approach them by gathering as much information as possible, weighing the potential benefits against the risks, and trusting my intuition. I think risk is an important part of creating change and finding new opportunities for growth, but it’s essential to approach it with careful consideration.
