Today we’d like to introduce you to Jwalant Patel.
Hi Jwalant, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Name: J Patel, PA-C
Title: Founder, MyFitMed Clinics | Functional Medicine Provider | Entrepreneur
About Me
I’m J Patel, a Physician Assistant, healthcare entrepreneur, and founder of MyFitMed — a growing network of functional medicine clinics based in Dallas, Texas. My professional journey began in India, where I earned my Pharmacy degree. I later moved to the U.S. to pursue my MBA in Healthcare Management in Ohio, followed by Physician Assistant studies in Boston.
Before starting my business, I served six years in the U.S. Army as a Physician Assistant, where I had the privilege of caring for soldiers and military families. My time in service shaped my leadership style and strengthened my commitment to serve others with purpose, discipline, and compassion.
How I Started My Business
After working in traditional medicine for years, I noticed a growing problem — patients weren’t truly getting better. They were being managed, not healed. I wanted to create something different: a healthcare model focused on root cause, prevention, and optimization, not just symptom management.
When I started MyFitMed, there were very few functional medicine clinics in Dallas, and most of them catered to an elite concierge clientele. I wanted to make this level of care accessible and affordable for everyone.
In the beginning, I had no marketing budget, no fancy clinic, and no investors — just my knowledge, determination, and genuine passion for helping people. I built my first website myself and grew mainly through word of mouth. I spent extra time educating my patients, built real relationships, and even gave my personal cell number so they could reach me directly with questions.
That patient-first approach built immense trust, and one location quickly turned into four. Today, MyFitMed continues to grow as one of the leading functional medicine practices in Texas.
My Mission and Motivation
My mission has always been simple — to redefine healthcare so that people can live healthier, more energetic, and more fulfilled lives. I believe medicine should be personal, preventive, and empowering.
I’ve personally trained every provider in our clinics to approach each patient as an individual, not a diagnosis. Our culture at MyFitMed is built on trust, communication, and education — we want every patient to feel comfortable enough to share everything, because that’s how true healing starts.
I’ve also helped many other healthcare providers across the country start their own functional medicine programs. I believe that by empowering other providers, we can help more people — not compete, but collaborate for better care.
Beyond the Clinic
In addition to MyFitMed, I founded MitoMins™, a doctor-formulated supplement company focused on optimizing cellular health and longevity. The goal was to bridge the gap between clinical care and daily wellness — providing science-based, trusted supplements that support energy, metabolism, and performance.
I also run a YouTube channel, @MyFitMed, where I create educational content on health optimization, anti-aging, and functional medicine. My goal with this platform is to educate people so they can better understand their symptoms, ask the right questions, and take control of their health journey.
Personal Life
I live in Dallas, Texas, with my wife, who is a dentist currently serving in the U.S. military. Her dedication and support have been a major driving force in my journey. Outside of work, I’m passionate about fitness, longevity science, and mentoring young medical professionals who want to break out of the traditional healthcare model.
Future Goals
Looking ahead, my focus is on expanding MyFitMed to more cities, continuing to mentor other healthcare providers, and building awareness around preventative and root-cause medicine.
Ultimately, I want to change the way people think about healthcare — from treating illness to building lifelong vitality.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road — but every challenge became part of the foundation that built MyFitMed.
When I first started, I had no marketing budget, no brand awareness, and no investor support. Functional medicine wasn’t as well-known at the time, and most people associated it with expensive concierge-style clinics for the elite. I wanted to make that level of personalized care accessible to everyday people — but convincing patients to try a completely different model of healthcare, especially one that wasn’t covered by insurance, was difficult in the beginning.
I also faced skepticism from peers and other providers. Many thought giving patients my personal number or spending extra time educating them wouldn’t be sustainable. But I believed building real trust and connection was the only way to create lasting change.
Another challenge was balancing multiple demanding roles — serving in the military as a Physician Assistant, working at pain management clinic as PA and running a new clinic on my off days. I worked long hours, sometimes seven days a week, but those sacrifices helped me understand what true commitment to a mission feels like.
Then COVID hit. Just as I opened my first retail location (my 2nd actual location) everything shut down. It was a defining moment — we had to completely rethink how to care for patients virtually while keeping our team motivated and our doors open. What kept us going was the trust our patients had in us. They stayed with us because they knew we cared about their health beyond the system.
Looking back, every obstacle — lack of resources, skepticism, long hours, and even the pandemic — pushed me to innovate, adapt, and strengthen our foundation. Those early struggles shaped our culture at MyFitMed: lead with service, stay authentic, and never compromise on patient care.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
MyFitMed was built on one simple belief — that everyone deserves the level of personalized, proactive care once reserved only for the elite. We provide concierge-level functional medicine without the concierge-level price tag.
At MyFitMed, we go beyond treating symptoms — we focus on the root cause. We optimize hormones, nutrients, and lifestyle to help our patients look, feel, and perform at their best. Whether it’s weight optimization, fatigue, hormonal imbalance, or longevity and performance goals, our approach is always individualized, evidence-based, and focused on restoring balance at the cellular level.
What truly sets us apart is the experience. When patients walk into any of our clinics, they don’t feel like they’re entering a medical office — they feel like they’re visiting friends. Our staff is warm, approachable, and deeply invested in every patient’s journey. Over time, our patients become part of our extended family. That’s not a marketing phrase — that’s the culture we live every day.
Our brand isn’t built on ads or hype — it’s built on trust. Every referral, every testimonial, every success story has come from that trust. We’ve grown organically through word-of-mouth because our patients know we care about them as people, not numbers.
I’m most proud that MyFitMed has become more than a clinic — it’s a movement redefining how healthcare should feel. We’re proving that modern medicine can be personal, preventative, and human again.
Our goal is simple: help you get into the best shape of your life — physically, mentally, and hormonally — and give you the energy and confidence to perform at your peak, at any age.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
No journey like this happens alone — and MyFitMed is living proof of that.
When we started, we had no budget, no marketing, and no brand awareness. What we did have was belief — and a few incredible people who shared that belief when it was just an idea.
My former pain management employer was one of the first to support me. He adjusted my schedule so I could complete my 40 hours in just three long days — often working 12–16 hour shifts — which allowed me to dedicate the rest of my week to building the clinic. That flexibility was a turning point.
A close chiropractor friend offered me space in his office so I could start seeing patients before I even had a clinic of my own. A nurse friend volunteered to help after finishing her regular shifts, working late nights to help me set up systems, schedule patients, and build awareness.
And of course, none of this would have been possible without my wife and family. My wife worked long hours to help cover our household expenses while every dollar I earned went back into building the clinic. She supported me emotionally and mentally when things got difficult — and she constantly pushed me to stay focused on the mission.
But perhaps the biggest credit goes to our patients. They trusted me when this approach to medicine was still new and unfamiliar. They gave me a chance, believed in the vision, and then became our biggest advocates — referring their friends, families, and colleagues. That trust is what built the foundation of MyFitMed, and it continues to drive us forward every day.
