Community Highlights: Meet Kendale Brown of Evolve Counseling, Consulting, and Coaching PLLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendale Brown.

Hi Kendale, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in the 1980s during the crack epidemic. Both of my parents struggled with addiction, but my mother always made sure we had a stable home. We never went without. We had nice clothes, food on the table, and a place to call home. Despite the challenges around me, I learned early on about strength, survival, and grace. I grew up in Grand Prairie, Texas, and later moved to the south suburbs of Chicago, where I attended a prestigious high school. At 14, I took my first psychology class—and fell in love with understanding people and the power of the mind. That passion led me to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from a private liberal arts college. In 2008, my church offered a college program for business degrees, and I decided to expand my education by earning my MBA in 2010. Two years later, I began working as a substitute teacher in Fort Worth, Texas, and soon transitioned into a full-time teaching role. My mentor at the time was a school counselor who inspired me to pursue counseling as a career. With her encouragement and recommendation, I began my journey toward becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor. I earned my Master’s in Counseling in 2017 and completed my practicum at The Potter’s House of Dallas, where I now proudly serve as the Assistant Director. Since then, I’ve continued to grow in my purpose, establishing my private practice. Evolve Counseling, Consulting, and Coaching PLLC. Where I help others heal, grow, and evolve into their best selves.

My story is one of transformation. I believe that no matter where you start, you have the power to evolve.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but God has carried me through every step, and I am stronger because of it. Growing up, we rarely had transportation, and without public transit or the convenience of Uber, even simple things often felt impossible. Those were difficult times. My father was not present for most of my life,
My mother’s addiction was the hardest struggle of all. It shaped much of my childhood and later affected me as an adult and a parent. Witnessing how that absence impacted my brother was painful. I’ve had to overcome deep trauma, rejection, and emotional wounds, but through it all, God’s grace and strength sustained me. I now teach individuals how to overcome trauma and rejection
