Community Highlights: Meet Keri Kendall of Green Peacock Psychiatry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keri Kendall.

Keri, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After navigating a major life transition and I was now a single parent, I reached a turning point in my life. At the time, I began working as a nanny for a family with a child who had special needs, and that experience inspired me to pursue nursing. I began by completing my prerequisites, then went on to enroll in the Baylor University FastBacc Nursing Program, an intensive one-year nursing program. With the support of my family, I successfully completed the program and launched my career in healthcare.

My first role was as a cardiac nurse, which provided a strong foundation in acute care. While the experience was invaluable, I discovered during nursing school that my true passion lay in mental health. I realized that without mental health, it is difficult for people to maintain overall health — and that insight shaped the direction of my career.

This led me to continue my education and become a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Today, I am dedicated to working with behavioral health clients, combining clinical expertise with a deep commitment to helping individuals achieve both mental and physical well-being. I love what I do.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road, but looking back, the timing of opportunities worked out in ways that kept me moving forward. Balancing single parenthood with the long hours of nursing was challenging — there were times I even had to hire overnight care for my daughter so I could work. I also realized that I couldn’t continue hospital nursing while pursuing further education, so I made the decision to transition into a school nurse. Although it meant a lower salary, it allowed me to be on the same schedule as my daughter. Having our free time aligned made her early school years easier, and that balance was worth the trade-off

As you know, we’re big fans of Green Peacock Psychiatry. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Green Peacock Psychiatry is a mental health practice that provides both medication management and therapeutic interventions. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, my goal is to partner with clients so they can begin managing their lives in a way that aligns with who they want to be.

What sets Green Peacock Psychiatry apart is the personalized and compassionate approach we bring to care. Every client’s story and journey is unique, and I take time to understand their goals, challenges, and strengths. I strive to create a safe space where clients feel supported, respected, and empowered to take meaningful steps forward.

Brand-wise, I am most proud of the feedback I receive from clients who share that their lives have truly changed through our work together. Hearing that someone is enjoying life—sometimes for the very first time—is the most rewarding part of this practice.

At Green Peacock Psychiatry, clients can expect individualized treatment, thoughtful guidance, and a focus on long-term well-being, not just symptom relief. My hope is that anyone who connects with our practice feels encouraged to believe that meaningful change is possible.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that clients need mental health care that makes them feel truly seen and heard. They don’t want to feel like just another number or another patient. Building authentic, compassionate connections is what allows real healing and growth to happen.
