Today we’d like to introduce you to Kizzy Berrueta
Hi Kizzy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story is easy to tell, I am simply an immigrant and I know that it feels like to be in a new country with a very complicated immigration system. My name is Kizzy Berrueta, I am from Venezuela, I have two children and I am married. I studied law in my country, I have been a graduate for 24 years and I also did postgraduate studies and a doctorate in Management in my country. Due to circumstances that are well known to all, I had to leave my country due to its political and social conflict. The goal was to start a new life in a place where I could be at peace, be free, and dedicate myself to work. I chose the city of Dallas, TX as my new home in 2018. Just like any beginning is difficult, when I was immersed in so many immigration procedures, I told myself one day, it seems that this will never end, I cannot continue to depend on a lawyer for simple procedures, I have to do my own procedures and thus I would save a lot of money. My previous knowledge of laws in my country made it easier for me to understand the processes.
I started at the end of 2022 in the city of Dallas, TX in the area of preparation of immigration documents doing my own paperwork and those of my family, then I started doing training courses with immigration lawyers and I began to be passionate about this area, especially because you have the satisfaction of being able to help many people who are in so much need. In addition, I needed a job that would allow me to take care of my children, I did not want to be an absent mother subjected to a work schedule in a distant place.
My business is not only about providing a service and getting paid, but my business also goes beyond that, because we all have a mission, if your business is only limited to providing a service and attracting temporary clients, you will be one more of the bunch. My business educates people in their immigration processes, they are guided and given autonomy so that they also know how to manage and follow up on them. This helps make clients aware of the importance of keeping their processes up to date to maintain their current immigration status within the United States. The unexpected result is that I have managed to keep client loyalty, they always come back.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been an easy road, we are still on that path, my venture is still in its early stages, but I am satisfied with what I have achieved so far. From the point of view of getting clients, my biggest challenge was to generate trust, what can I do so as to be different from so many similar businesses and make them chose me without fear of being scammed, the issue was how to make them believe in me? Another challenge was to overcome the barrier of distance, how to make a client trust a virtual office that serves their clients by WhatsApp and Zoom. These challenges were overcome, my best ally was my communication strategy with them and the postal mail service. For example, clients tell me that they had never received a copy of their procedures and had never been given the data of their My USCIS account, and only because of that small detail they were satisfied and confident. But, in addition, as this work that I do every day connects me with people and their life stories, I have learned about the realities that people go through in their countries of origin and their journeys to fulfill their American dream. This means an advantage for me because I enrich myself with their experiences, my critical thinking is transformed every day. In contrast to the above, I could say that the most difficult thing is to carry the emotional burden of each client, many of them cannot express their suffering, they prefer to block their bad memories. This makes it difficult for them to write their stories of persecution, making the time to prepare the case take longer than scheduled. For starters, I can tell you that I am working on a project to help people express their life stories without revictimization.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
BUEDIM COMMUNITY and I am its only member, although sometimes I speak in the plural when I am talking about the company as an organization. Buedim Community stands for BUSINESS EDUCATION IMMIGRATION.
Our initial thought was to undertake in the area of business registration and the area of preparation of immigration documents, but currently the most demanded service is the document preparation service because there is a lot of need in this area.
My main service is preparing immigration documents, making address changes, FOIA requests, work permit petitions, family petitions, asylum forms, temporary protected status forms, and much more. I clarify that I am a limited help provider, I do not give legal advice, and I am not an immigration attorney in the United States.
Of all the procedures I do, I am passionate about applying for asylum, and it is the area that I do the most on a daily basis, because it is the most demanded service.
Thanks to social media, I’m known for being helpful and accommodating, there’s always an answer or guidance. To tell the truth they are surprised at my willingness to answer and I am surprised that they are surprised, because for me it is normal, it does not cost me anything.
What sets you apart from others? This is a very good question, I have always thought that what distinguishes me is that I always answer calls on any day and at any time, I think I should limit that, but I never do. For this reason alone, clients always come back, and those who only make an initial consultation, months later return because they have done poorly exploring other options. Our way of communicating definitely builds trust in people. When I serve clients, they are given a summary of what was discussed, they are shown a structured work plan with delivery dates and which services are included and which are not. The virtual office I manage is flexible in its schedules and that also pleases clients. In the future, I do not close myself to the possibility of establishing a physical structure of the business.
I am proud of the results, of the cases in which I have been successful, I am proud of each approval for the benefit of the client. I am proud that the failure rate is practically 0%. I take great care in the details. My brand’s success is the client’s success. They may think that I am romantic but it gives me a lot of joy and satisfaction when people get a work permit, they feel that it changes their lives for the better and they feel they have more opportunities to live a dignified life with greater access to jobs, services and tax advantages. They feel part of society, they feel integrated, they feel like people. It’s the magic of what a document can do.
I would like you to know the organizational base of Buedim Community. Essentially, we generate value for the Hispanic community. Our values are based on working on the basis of social responsibility, assertive communication, respect for the human person, honesty, confidentiality, efficiency, punctuality, quality service, innovation and a lot of passion in what we do. In the future we see ourselves as a competitive organization in the field, different from the others because in addition to providing a quality service to the client, we generate value to the community in general. We carry out our mission every day, we generate a space that fosters support and collaboration with the immigrant community in the USA, through the provision of a quality professional service that meets the expectations of the client, generating full confidence in the market.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
What’s something surprising that most people who know you, your work, or your brand might not know about?
That sometimes I help many people without charging anything. I do it because I am used to serving the public. I worked 14 years in the public sector in my country of origin and I am trained exclusively to serve the public, especially vulnerable people from low social strata, indigenous people, people deprived of their liberty, relatives of detainees, adolescents deprived of their liberty, women victims of gender violence and their aggressors. I was, am and will be a servant and that makes me happy.
