Community Highlights: Meet Lisa Gaut of High Society and Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Gaut

Lisa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey has been quite an adventure, marked by versatility and determination. After earning my master’s degree in biology in 2018, I set out to elevate my salon business. With a lot of planning and prayer, I opened Locdown by Will in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. From 2018 to 2022, I was juggling quite a few roles—I managed a full-time job in my field, ran my salon business, and pursued a PhD. It was a lot to handle, and yes, it definitely tested my limits!

When I needed a change, I relocated to Seattle to dive into corporate America, aiming to refine my business skills and expand my personal and professional network. A year later, I found myself in Dallas, Texas, facing the challenge of adapting my career and business to a new city. Despite the initial uncertainty, the past year has been incredibly rewarding. I’ve successfully built my salon’s clientele, advanced my career in higher education, launched an e-book business (High Society & Company – Digital), and created a luxury lifestyle group for women (High Society & Company Presents: The Dinner Club).

Every day has its challenges, but it’s all been worth it. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and excited to keep adding to my story.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been far from smooth. Some challenges I have faced are setbacks from transitioning between 3 states in under 2 years, keeping up with the social media marketing wave, procrastination, self-doubt, business funding, and the list goes on. However, navigating a rocky road ignites something inside of you that makes you a tougher, stronger, and wiser individual. I am thankful for the obstacles I currently face, have faced in the past, and will face in the future. The struggle, as ugly as it may be, is an important part of the journey.
