Community Highlights: Meet Lisa Slimak of Le-Marie Cookiery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Slimak.

Hi Lisa, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
It all started in the unforgettable year of 2020! Coronavirus became a thing and I found myself stuck in the house, my creative side itching for something to do. I enjoy baking so I started watching YouTube videos on sugar cookies and quickly became obsessed! After taking several virtual classes & flooding my family members with cookies, I decided I would love to spread the cookie joy to others!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a fairly smooth road other than a lot of trial & error with recipes & techniques in the beginning.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Le-Marie Cookiery is a home-based cottage bakery. We specialize in custom-decorated sugar cookies & gourmet cookies. We spent a lot of time perfecting our signature sugar cookie recipe; this is not a normal-tasting sugar cookie! We offer several different sugar cookie options, no frosting plain sugar cookies, simple circle cookies for those who have a craving but don’t have an event or design in mind, dunkers (signature sugar cookie minis & a tasty frosting to dunk), DIY kits & more!

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I am really hard on myself when it comes to my cookies! A cookie won’t go out the door if it doesn’t meet my standards! Even if it means pulling a late night to redo an order I wasn’t happy with.
