Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorean Dillard.
Hi Lorean, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
For 19 years, I have been in the permanent makeup and esthetic world. I have trained under numerous artists around the country and have experience in the newest techniques. Having my aunt as a mentor really pushed me into the industry. Growing up with a father in the medical field, I knew I had an interest there, but needed to find my niche. Now I’m a licensed skin care therapist, injector, and permanent makeup artist.
I am working with plastic surgeons around the metroplex to provide 3D hyper-realistic areolas on breast cancer survivors. I recently opened a non-profit, Beauty Mark Mission that provides tattooed 3D nipples to women post reconstruction surgery. I truly feel this is my calling and what God put me on this Earth to do.
I am teaching permanent makeup and areola tattooing with Aesthetic Medical Partners, and I am excited to help other artists grow.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This industry is always evolving, and getting to this point isn’t something that happens overnight. My journey has been blood, sweat and tears. Experience and continuing education within the industry created the artist I’ve become. Having the skin care background has really married my education with the permanent makeup, allowing me to find my method.
As you know, we’re big fans of Beauty Mark Boutique. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Implanting pigment into eyebrows, eyeliner, lips and areolas is where I specialize. My technique prevents any sort of color distortion and even pigment breakdown over time. Giving my clients amazing, healed results is my goal.
I also specialize in customized skin care and skin resurfacing. I have a limited client base, allowing sessions to be tailored per the individual. The medical spa offers everything from customized skin care and PMU to fillers, injections and facial contouring.
In the spring, I will be offering an internship and apprenticeship program for personally hand-picked artists. Having a mentor to grow in this industry is essential.
My passion lies with Beauty Mark Mission, a nonprofit I opened to provide free 3D realistic tattooed areolas to breast cancer survivors. I look forward to building relationships with reconstructive surgeons around the metroplex. It is gratifying work to help so many women, and I am honored to leave a lasting mark of beauty. To say I’m grateful to live out my passion as a career is an understatement.
Alright, so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
All my clientele is referral-based. Sharing with friends and family really does make a difference. Educating people about the option and benefits of a 3D areola tattoo post surgery is a great way to raise awareness. Beauty Mark Mission is in the beginning growth process and is accepting donations. Volunteers and Grant seeker/writers are always needed. I am excited for Beauty Mark Mission’s annual October event with a large silent auction to raise funds. If you feel led to donate or volunteer your time we need you and welcome all help. You may contact the non profit directly at BeautyMarkBoutique.com.
