Community Highlights: Meet Lucia Macias of Tiendita de Frida

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lucia Macias.

Hi Lucia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Tiendita de Frida was born in October 2018 because of the love I have for the traditions and culture of my country and with the intention of making known and showing Mexican handicrafts made by hand specifically from the states of Chiapas and Oaxaca, at the same time as be contacting and talking with the artisans the intention became something more personal knowing that with this intention of showing it was giving a source of work to families with small workshops and also be able to contribute to their growth. I began to see that people liked and appreciated the work of our artisans and began to look for more points of sale, currently, Tiendita de Frida has a page on Facebook and Instagram finding to promote artisan accessories more widely.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This path has not been easy, I have to be constant and persevering it has been a challenge there are many factors many times the weather does not collaborate sometimes it is very tired but at the end of the day I come home with the satisfaction that I am doing what I do most I like it, nothing is easy but it is a dream for which I am fighting.

As you know, we’re big fans of Tiendita de Frida. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Tiendita de Frida is distinguished by having its own style we like to support the talent of our Mexican artisans and promote and highlight our traditions and culture. I am always looking to give my best and that my clients are satisfied, I am very proud of my small business because I have seen it grow little by little and I have met wonderful people along the way, clients who become friends. The name of Tiendita de Frida is because I have always admired Frida Kahlo a woman who despite many difficulties in her life never gave up is an example that whatever happens, go ahead and make your dreams come true.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Always being professional, honest, and friendly
