Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Mouton.
Mary, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
N.O.W. University was a vision that became reality in September 2016 as an in-home childcare provider; five years later we transitioned into a small childcare facility in May 2021. We have now outgrown our space and have been diligently searching for a property in the Crowley/Fort Worth area. The most amazing, praiseworthy point to note is that we a have 99% participation/presence from the fathers represented per family. Our center also requires parents to volunteer one hour per month to be a “physical” investor in their children’s educational journey.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The transition from home to our center was a smooth transition, but there were many “unknowns” that I became aware of. The greatest struggle we have is accommodating our growing waitlist of children whose parents see the value in what we offer. We are not a “play-care”, as we have such high expectations for our Champions to effectively cultivate their purpose at an early age. Because we have a student capacity of 39, a vacancy only becomes available when our four-year-olds leave for public school PreK or kindergarten.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about N.O.W. University LLC?
Not only am I the owner, but I am present at the business everyday as you must “inspect what you expect”. We are known for what our name means which is No Opportunity Wasted as we specialize in making sure that we take advantage of the critical years of children between birth and five years of age. We are also known for preparing students to test one grade ahead when they leave our center which sets us apart from others. I am most proud brand wise as our logo is a champions cup–which our children are called “Champions”; our slogan is Transitioning from child to Champion. Our brand stands to support a quote by Victor Hugo: “He who opens a school door, closes a prison” Our personal motto is “We were created to be an answer”, which is what we thrive in.
What are your plans for the future?
Our plan for the future is to be able to move to a larger facility this year and give an opportunity to children that are not disabled in their learning abilities but are “differently able”. I have learned over the years that you should never share your vision with someone who’s blind–meaning most people cannot see what you see. I am looking forward to being a pillar in our community and to stand strong in our vision.
