Hi Meli, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After my husband and I planned our wedding back in 2020, we decided to go in the photobooth business! We launched Captured Photobooth and Rentals in June 2021 as our second job. The irony is that we didn’t even have an official photo booth in our wedding. We inquired around and the rates we were getting were outside of our budget, so we decided to DIY it. I guess it’s a full-circle moment! But now we know the market and the work that goes into event/parties.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
At first, it was a bit stressful because I would think about the “what if no one books or what if they don’t like it”. That changed with the support of my friends and family which helped jump-start our business! The power of referrals is amazing!! However, the second bump we were running into is overworking. Being that this is our second job, it would get a bit overwhelming. With time, I got into the rhythm of things and it does help that I like the drive of making money! Haha

CapturedCo is a modern styled photo booth that offers a personal engaging experience to capture you and your guests! Our photobooth offers digital options of photos, bommerangs, GIFs, and videos! Additionally, we offer print strips (2×6) which is perfect for your guests to have has a gift keepsake. Everything is completely customized to your event’s theme and I design 100% of it. I truly enjoy tapping into the theme and getting creative with it! That’s what sets me apart from other photobooth companies, I spend time designing unique photo templates or filters that I take much pride in! Speaking of design, that’s where the rental part comes in! I create signs with vinyl such as wedding welcome signs, bar menus, and seating charts. We rent out gold vintage mirrors as a welcome sign for weddings that is VERY popular. It’s super special to me as it was a design I created for my wedding. It got a lot of buzz and now it has been a part of many others. We love connecting with our parties and meeting new faces!
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Not much since we started mid-2021.
