Today we’d like to introduce you to Melody Hammett.
Hi Melody, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My clothing obsession began when I was a kid playing dress-up. I have wanted to build my own brand for several years, but it wasn’t until last year that I finally listen to what God was laying on my heart. I prayed about it and he opened doors that made my decision clear, so with complete faith, I jumped right in and started The Asher Lane.
Having a blended family of 4 young adults and our first grand baby, my days are fueled with Jesus and coffee!! I love my family and my faith! Being the mom of the bride made me realize the importance of the construction of special occasion dresses. Simple additions such as the built-in bra feature, having high-quality fabric at affordable pricing were very important. My goal is to bring quality, stylish dresses for any special occasion straight to their home.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This journey hasn’t been easy, but I have learned so much! It has taken prayer, coffee, and lots of research! We have attended every bridal show possible and venue open houses just trying to get our brand out into the world. I discovered that building a brand is not easy and I couldn’t do this without my team!
We’ve been impressed with The Asher Lane, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We provide high-quality handmade bridesmaid dresses that have built-in bra and are made with comfort in mind. We are adding more products such as robes, jewelry, and hair pieces that will be coming soon! My vision for this brand is to not just offer dresses but to be a resource for the bride and bridal party. One of my favorite things we offer are our home try-on boxes, it makes trying on so convenient for everyone. We also offer virtual appointments where you can meet with a stylist one on one where we help with fit, colors, etc. We want to make the experience stress-free and fun for everyone.
We are a women-owned and operated business located in the heart of Texas. Our mission is to offer a faith-based work program for others, which also helps our business grow.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe in luck, Jesus and lots of prayer have gotten me where I am today with this brand. It is tough in the e-commerce world today, but you have to have faith, stay true to your brand and stand out from the crowd!
