Community Highlights: Meet Michelle Ramirez of Pa Pa Party! Balloons

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Ramirez.

Hi Michelle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Ever since college, I naturally found myself being the person who planned events for the organizations I was involved in. Looking back, that’s where my love for event planning really began. I loved bringing ideas to life, choosing colors, creating themes, and making every celebration feel special.

As I continued planning family events over the years, I would order jumbo helium balloons from a friend in West Texas. One day she told me, “Friend, you’re so creative. You always know exactly what you want, the colors, the theme, everything. You need to take a balloon course and start making these yourself.” Those words planted a seed I never expected.

She shared all the information about an extensive two-day balloon training in Mexico, and I decided to go. During that training, I learned how to create balloon garlands and hand-painted jumbo helium balloons; I completely fell in love with this work. That’s when I knew I wanted to turn my creativity into something more. In May 2023, I officially launched my balloon business. I started by creating hand-painted jumbo helium balloons for graduations, and just a month later I designed my first balloon arch along with several jumbo helium balloons for my daughter’s baptism. Seeing my work come to life and bring joy to others confirmed that I was exactly where I was meant to be.
I’m incredibly thankful for my friend Rita, who believed in me before I fully believed in myself. Instead of seeing me as competition, she saw my creativity and encouraged me to grow. She generously shared her knowledge and pointed me toward an opportunity that helped shape the business I have today. I’ll always be grateful for her support because genuine encouragement like this is such a gift.

Looking back, what started as simply loving to celebrate family milestones has grown into a business that allows me to be creative, serve others, and be part of some of the most meaningful moments in people’s lives. It is such an honor to help families celebrate their biggest milestones, and I feel incredibly blessed to do what I love. I’m excited to continue growing and creating beautiful memories for my clients.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, and honestly, I don’t think most small business journeys are. When you first start, you think if you work hard and create beautiful work, clients will automatically come. The reality is there are so many challenges behind the scenes, and each one has helped me grow, both personally and professionally.

One of my biggest challenges was that I had just moved to Dallas in January 2022. Although I’m originally from West Texas, I had been living in California before moving back to Texas to be closer to my family. When I decided to start my business, I quickly realized I was starting completely from scratch. I didn’t have a community here, I barely even knew my neighbors at the time.

Finding clients in the beginning was incredibly difficult. I still remember posting in my neighborhood’s Facebook group, and that’s how I landed my very first client. From there, word of mouth slowly started to spread, and each happy client led to another opportunity. But growth didn’t happen overnight. I had to put myself out there, meet people, attend networking events, and slowly build relationships within my community. Those connections have been invaluable, but they took time.

Another challenge was learning how to properly price my work. As a creative, it’s easy to undervalue what you do, especially when you’re just starting out and trying to book clients. I had to learn that not everyone will be my client, and that’s okay. I realized that pricing isn’t just about balloons, it’s about valuing my time, creativity, experience, and the care I put into every installation. When you don’t value your work, you end up overworking yourself and eventually feeling burned out.

There were moments when I questioned whether I was doing enough or if my business would ever truly take off. But through every challenge, God has continued to open doors at just the right time and remind me to trust His timing. Looking back, I’m thankful the journey wasn’t easy because it taught me patience, perseverance, resilience, and the courage to step outside my comfort zone. Every obstacle has helped shape me into a stronger business owner, and every client I’ve earned feels that much more meaningful because I know the hard work, faith, and dedication it took to get here.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Pa Pa Party! Balloons, we specialize in luxury balloon décor, custom backdrops, marquee letters and numbers, and 360 video booth and photo booth rentals. Whether it’s an intimate celebration or a large-scale event, our goal is to create beautiful, memorable experiences that bring each client’s vision to life.

One of my favorite parts of this business is that it’s truly a family business. I’m the creative mind behind every design, while my husband uses his woodworking talent to build all of our custom backdrops. Being able to combine our talents to create something special for our clients has been one of the greatest blessings of this journey.

What sets us apart is our commitment to excellence in everything we do. I’ve always believed that if you’re going to do something, you should do it well. I’m constantly learning, investing in education, and challenging myself creatively so I can continue to offer my clients the very best. I’ve always admired Kobe Bryant’s Mamba Mentality, the belief that success comes from putting in the work when no one is watching. That mindset has become part of how I run my business. The hours spent developing new techniques, refining designs, and perfecting every detail happen long before an event day, all so my clients get something they truly love.

Customer service is equally important to me. I know how stressful planning an event can be, so I want every client to feel confident from our very first conversation until the final pickup after their event. I prioritize communication, reliability, and making the entire process as seamless and enjoyable as possible. I want my clients to know they can trust me to show up, bring their vision to life, and treat their event as if it were my own.

I’m also someone who pays close attention to the little details because I believe those details are what elevates an event. At the same time, I believe beautiful celebrations should be accessible. That’s why I don’t require installation minimums. Whether you’re looking for a grand installation or a smaller balloon arrangement, every client deserves the same level of care, creativity, and attention.

More than anything, I want people to know that at Pa Pa Party! Balloons, the client always comes first. It doesn’t matter if your event is big or small, it’s important to you, which means it’s important to me. My greatest joy is creating décor that not only looks beautiful but helps families celebrate life’s most meaningful moments with confidence, excitement, and lasting memories.

Any big plans?
Oh, I have so many exciting plans for the future! There are definitely some things happening behind the scenes that we are working hard on, and while I can’t share all the details just yet, I can say that we have some big goals and exciting announcements coming in the near future. I don’t want to reveal too much before everything is ready, but I encourage everyone to follow along on our social media pages because we can’t wait to share what’s next for Pa Pa Party! Balloons.

One thing I can share is that we have big plans to grow and expand. There are so many ideas that have started as sketches in my notebook, and we are working diligently to turn those dreams into reality. Every step we take is with the goal of continuing to provide our clients with unforgettable experiences, even more creative options, and the exceptional service they expect from us.

What I am most excited about is continuing to bring joy to people and being part of their most meaningful celebrations. I am so grateful for the loyal clients who continue to come back, refer us to their friends and family, and trust us with their special moments. Looking ahead, I want to continue creating, innovating, and finding new ways to surprise and serve our clients while making every celebration feel unforgettable.
