Today we’d like to introduce you to Miranda Morris.
Hi Miranda, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
My journey to where I am today began when I was just 16 years old when I tore my ACL in my left knee playing volleyball. My injury occurred in my first tournament, where I joined a higher-level travel select team to get scouted by D1 colleges. I was devastated by my injury and was unsure of what my volleyball career would look like, but I knew God had a plan for me. The doctor recommended surgery for the activity level I wanted to return to. After that, I went through 6 months of physical therapy. I was already interested in the medical field, but when I came back stronger than ever after physical therapy, I was sold on the profession and set my eyes on being a physical therapist to help other athletes reach their potential that they never even thought was possible.
During my time in physical therapy school, I learned about the pelvic floor and women’s health physical therapy specialty and became very intrigued. My interest deepened throughout my time in school, but unfortunately, at that time, there was very little education about the pelvic floor in PT programs. After I graduated in 2017 with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St Augustine, I took many continuing education courses to learn more about the pelvic floor. When I got pregnant, and after I had my daughter in 2020, I saw firsthand some of the issues women go through, such as leakage and prolapse. This gave me a deeper passion to serve women and moms even more. I had worked in a few different settings ranging from outpatient orthopedics to insurance-based pelvic floor and cash-based pelvic floor clinics, but felt I still was not reaching my full potential to serve women to where they could reach their full potential. I then decided to start my own business and Infinite Radiance Wellness, LLC, which was born in late 2022.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Overall, my journey to where I am today has been a smooth road but had some little bumps along the way. Ultimately, I took the path that I am supposed to be on and never look at anything as a mistake but as a learning experience that has allowed me to grow and shape who I am.
The road to becoming a physical therapist was fairly easy and felt like my calling, outside of all of the schoolwork of course, which was very rigorous. I was fortunate to not have to apply to a lot of schools or have the struggle of waiting years to get into PT school. My main struggles came after PT school, where I had a hard time finding where I was supposed to go with my career and let my limiting beliefs hold me back. I fought it for a little bit but ended up down the path of entrepreneurship where I was supposed to be.
I developed a strong orthopedic physical therapy background in my first few years out of PT school but wanted to specialize in pelvic floor therapy and pursued other opportunities that I thought would be a better fit. After I had my daughter, I re-evaluated everything and started the process of opening my own business. Then the limiting beliefs set in. I told myself, “I need to learn more about the pelvic floor before starting my own business,” and “I am only a couple of years out of school, so I need more experience.” I now know those were not true beliefs, and they held me back. I ended up pursuing what felt like “safer” jobs and ones that would get me more “experience,” but neither gave me what I was looking for, and I still felt like there was more out there for me. This is where I realized that to help my clients reach their maximum potential, I had to create an environment for myself that also allowed me to do the same, and I am so happy I decided to leap into entrepreneurship! Being an entrepreneur is tough, but is so very rewarding and worth it. I love that the sky’s the limit for what I can do to better serve women!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Infinite Radiance Wellness, LLC was created to help women live their life to the fullest and reach a state of having Infinite Radiance through pelvic wellness. My biggest passion in what I do is helping active women live life how they deeply want to, being able to participate in activities with their family, and when they get self-care time being able to feel limitless in what their body can do. I have seen so many women, especially moms, sit out of time with their kids and self-care activities like going out with friends or an exercise class because of frustrations and lack of confidence in their bodies due to leakage, abdominal separation, and pelvic organ prolapse. Too many women believe these pelvic floor issues are normal, and they have to live with it, and that is simply not true. It is never too late to overcome pelvic floor issues such as leakage, painful intercourse, and pelvic organ prolapse to name a few.
I specialize in helping active women overcome pelvic organ prolapse. For those who do not know what that is, it is when a pelvic organ such as the bladder, uterus, or rectum starts to descend into the vaginal canal. Someone with prolapse might experience leakage, heaviness, pressure, and discomfort in their perineal area, which can impact daily life and their more active activities with their kids. This diagnosis can leave women feeling hopeless, failed by their bodies, and lacking confidence in many facets of life. I know because I went through this experience. So many women are left feeling like, or even being told they can’t do certain activities again, like lifting, which could impact time with their kids, and for the active moms and athletes, they feel a sense of identity being taken away because they can’t do something they love. It is not okay for women to be told they can never do activities they love again because, with the right support and guidance, it is possible to get back to anything! I love helping active women do what they didn’t think was possible and get back to all of the activities they enjoy most!
I got out of the traditional healthcare system and physical therapy practice, so there are no limits to what I can do to serve my clients. My goal is to help active women push themselves and their bodies to places they did not think they could go, which is usually not possible in the traditional physical therapy setting. I pride myself on providing a truly holistic and all-encompassing program where my clients feel they are being fully supported the entire time and can reach their maximum potential. I have a full-body approach, looking not only at the pelvis and pelvic floor but mainly how the rest of the body is impacting the pelvic floor! There are very minimal to no kegels involved. I do not just focus on the physical when working with my clients; I also consider their emotional well-being and mindset, as well as provide nutrition and wellness guidance to help them reach their goals. I am available as their coach daily to ensure they never feel lost and have full support to reach their goals. I guarantee that my clients will become their most strong and confident selves while working with me because I believe in what they are capable of with the right coach to help guide them.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define my success by how fulfilled I feel with my life and how that shows up in my relationships. I am constantly growing and evolving, so my success continues to evolve with the stages and phases of life I am in. I have goals and accomplishments I want to achieve, but I do not define myself or success by those things. I am successful by living my life the way I set out to live by and that God calls me to.
