Community Highlights: Meet Mosha Young of Styledbymo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mosha Young.

Hi Mosha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
It all started with wearing eyelash strips and getting tired of remembering to remove and replace them each day. I began looking on YouTube and learned how to put individual “clusters” on my close family and friends about 4 years ago. I gradually started practicing eyelash extension about a year later and used family and friends to gain my confidence and experience before enrolling in Dallas Lash Academy. Thereafter we established Styled by Mo, where you can come to get your hair styled, and lashes are done.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like most entrepreneurs, you have your highs and lows. When the pandemic came, it closed business for a while, and people had to start building clientele back. It still has its season when we are booked and times when we are slow.

We’ve been impressed with Styledbymo, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a beauty salon that offers many services such as eyelash extension, brow tinting, silk press, relaxers, color service, and more. Our mission in life is not merely to survive but to thrive and do so with some passion, some humor, and some style. We provide a private, professional atmosphere for clients to relax and unwind.

We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking.
I believe in taking risks the challenge in it is whether it will either work out or not. You hear the saying often “sink or swim,” and when we take risks in life, it’s just that. We learn from them; some of us may start to sink, but we eventually begin to swim our way back. I’ve taken a huge risk relocating from Kansas to Texas, hardly knowing anyone, and had to step completely out of my comfort zone. I can truly say I had moments when I thought I should give up and head home, but I stayed and trusted in the Lord through this journey and still learning from him. As I pursue my purpose in life.
