

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Contrera.
Hi Nicole, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It all started after my 21st birthday. I found my passion for decorating and planning for my birthday party I then decided to start renting a candy cart that me and my boyfriend made together. This was kind of like a small project we decided to take and bring in a little extra money. After renting our candy cart a couple of home times, I had clients ask for balloon decoration and other event rental items that at the time I did not have, but it kind of pushed me to want to expand my inventory for rental items. I then began to slowly purchase more inventory items, but yet I will still not convinced or felt confident enough to offer balloon decoration services. I didn’t think that I was good enough to provide services at the moment, and I was afraid that I was going to do a decoration and a client won’t like it so I held off on the balloon decoration request. But one day I just decided to practice I started purchasing balloons and making set ups at home practicing and perfecting my skills and turns out I am actually really good at it and I love doing it. I am a self-taught balloon artist and I didn’t know that something that scared me to start. Was something that I was actually really good at. After practicing, I felt confident enough to start posting and offering balloon decoration services. They started small and of course, I began to gain my clientele. I started posting on social media, making myself more known. This took sometime and my business 1st year was definitely an investment, I needed to purchase different backdrops, balloons, and increasing my inventory for rental items everything to start off with the business. I can definitely say that I wouldn’t be where I’m at today without my family. My family have been a huge support system for me and have definitely helped me on my journey here they have helped me build inventory and they have also helped me set up because event decoration, Is not a one person job it does take a lot of time and multiple people to accomplish what we do, I am happy to say that this has definitely been a journey and if you asked me right out of high school what would I be doing at 23 years old? This was definitely not what I thought I’d be doing. But I think I honestly found my passion and something that doesn’t feel like a job, but it allows me to bring out my creative side and allows me to open up and be myself enjoying what I do, plus getting paid for doing what I enjoy is amazing honestly
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth rode, the first year was pretty hard because I would get clients, but I would not gain any profit from this because for the most part all the profit would go straight to getting new inventory so it was rough to begin with, but after my first year, I pretty much had the basics and that was what I started to get more profit out of, but even then I would still put some money out of my profit to continue growing my inventory.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
So our business is about event decorations and rentals, and helping to make these events unforgettable. I definitely specialize in balloon decoration apart from our event rentals that we have. I would like the readers to know that I pour my love and passion into every detail, making sure that each event is unique as the people celebrating. I love what I do and I always try to make every set up special and memorable what set us apart is that at eventful party rentals family means everything. Our beautiful family is the heart of our business. We work together to help and assist with the court and rentals. Nothing is better than creating beautiful decorations together as a family. We offer balloon decoration Photo Booth service, we now have six candy carts available for rental when our business had only started with one. We are able to personalize your event to your liking and your theme. We are able to create the perfect party package tailored to your needs. I am the most proud of my business because when I look back and I had just started, I would see all these other vendors and I would say I want a van like that with my own logo driving around the city I want to be there. I want to make myself known and make this business flourish and thankfully I am there now. I still have a lot to go, of course but I have officially been able to get my own van with my logo personalized just how I wanted when I first started and I am so grateful and proud of myself for what I have built and how I did not give up when times were slow or hard, I kept pushing, and I kept hearing that voice in the back of my head that this business will flourish to be patient and just keep pouring my heart out to this business because it will eventually pay off and right now I think I am at a point where I am definitely earning my profit and I am able to pay my family for their help and still being able to save up money for more inventory items. We are definitely a business that wants the best for our clients and we are professional, family oriented. We strive to deliver exceptional decorations that exceed our clients expectations and always pushing beyond the ordinary to create something truly beautiful. We don’t just do what we’re paid for, but we go the extra mile to ensure that our decorations are beautiful.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
As the oldest sibling, I was definitely the one who helped my parents out a lot and matured quicker at a young age, but that allowed me to always think about my future and open my knowledge to the world by helping my parents at a young age, but I was definitely always a creative child. I always found a way to get something done and I did know that using my creative side, made me happy I loved doing creative things. But I never knew that being older using my creative side would be my job or my business. I just thought it was like a hobby not necessarily something that wouldn’t make me money or I didn’t really see a future doing something like this.
