Community Highlights: Meet N’Kima Russell of Queendom Arts Production

Today we’d like to introduce you to N’Kima Russell.

Hi N’Kima, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been an artist my entire life, and my mom always did everything in her power to afford me the opportunity to develop my natural abilities. This led me to many opportunities throughout school to participate in school district and city-wide art initiatives- from music, theater, and dance all the way to multimedia and visual arts.

While I was studying voice performance in college, I found an affinity for sales- meaning I was good at it. Really good. I have also always been a natural humanitarian, gravitating towards community service and non-profit initiatives. This combination really came alive while I was at Baylor and I was afforded the opportunity to lead in many student and campus organizations.

I ran into some health disparities that interrupted my ability to continue my studies, but I was so involved on campus that the university allowed me to continue as a paid student administrator. At this same time, I was establishing myself as a sales professional and worked my way to some really cool opportunities in Chicago, but that’s a story for another day.

By 2017, at the age of 24, I had accomplished much but did not know myself. I was forced by life circumstances to move back home to Texas and took the latter six months of the year to ditch my phone and fast for six months. This consisted mostly of water with some fruit and the occasional starch to prevent starvation. My family thought I had lost it, and though I was low, my soul was high. During this time, I got to embark on a new journey understand God and my purpose and develop a deeper understanding of my life experiences up to that point- call it a quarter-life crisis.

I came out of that season with the idea of Queendom Arts, which has since developed into Queendom Arts Production LLC.

We are the communication bridge between the brand or business and the consumer or client that ensures your message is well received. There are tons of awesome creatives out there, but what sets us apart is our ability to create a strategy for you that gets you to your goal. This alleviates the stress of scaling so that you can focus on running your business.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
All goals, of course, come with challenges. For me personally, access to financial resources has been limited so I have had to be creative to get to where I am without creating a lot debt and I’m thankful to say I have done that.

I have also been developing myself as a business owner and trusting that people will genuinely value my expertise. This has come with ups and downs, as well as learning to trust the price point at which I value myself.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The main thing I would like for people to know about my business is that we are invested in your success. We are beyond a company seeking to simply exchange resources because we understand the journey of entrepreneurship firsthand and what it means to build from scratch.

The best way to summarize what we do is to say that we create marketing and sales strategies that are centered around the many facets of advertisement as well as produce the components of that strategy. We are most known and appreciated for optimizing and managing live productions, such as events and commercials.

What sets us apart is my personal passion for both corporate sales and art. This allows me a more in-depth level of creativity when creating strategies and solutions for my clients.

I am most proud of accepting myself. I am a kind person who has often allowed myself to be taken advantage of, in life and business, and as I have overcome and developed more self-awareness and appreciation of my gifts and character, I have grown to even more deeply love who I am as a businesswoman artist and entrepreneur and have confidence in what I bring to the table.

I want people to know that they can trust me to be who I say I am and do what I say I will do, and that is the foundation for success in branding.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Have more backup plans.
