Community Highlights: Meet Omotola Maradesa of Events By Leesa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Omotola Maradesa.

Hi Omotola, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Three years ago, I I found myself in a bit of a life pause—I was on medical leave from work, unsure of what was next, and honestly just trying to find something meaningful to do with my time. It wasn’t some grand business plan or calculated move. It was just me, trying to reconnect with what made me feel alive. At the time, I had just started dating my now-husband. As we got to know each other, he quickly realized something about me: I loved helping people bring their celebrations to life. I had been that friend—the one who always stepped up to plan the birthday party, the baby shower, the surprise engagement. One day, in a simple but powerful moment, I told him I had always dreamed of starting something in events—maybe rentals, maybe planning, maybe both. His response? “Then let’s make it happen.”

With his encouragement, I used that time off to finally take the leap. I registered the business and started small—offering event rentals and slowly building the planning side of things. Then came our engagement. We decided to plan every detail of our wedding ourselves—from the vendors to the schedule to the creative direction. That wedding became our first big event, and the feedback we got from vendors and even our day-of coordinator was incredible: “Top-notch timeline,” “Flawless execution,” “Every detail was thought through.” That experience confirmed it for us—this wasn’t just a side hustle. This was our calling.

Since then, we’ve planned one celebration at a time—weddings, showers, birthday parties, you name it. What started as a passion turned into a purpose: helping people bring their most meaningful moments to life with ease, style, and heart.

We’re a husband-and-wife duo who understand the beauty of collaboration, the importance of clear communication, and the joy of seeing a vision come to life. Every event we plan is personal to us, because we know it’s personal to you.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—but every bump has shaped who we are and how we show up for our clients today. When we first started, we were in a unique place: I was on medical leave, unsure of what was next, and just looking for something meaningful to pour into. We didn’t have a roadmap or funding—just a shared vision, a few rental items, and the belief that we could build something beautiful together.

One of our early struggles was confidence—wondering if people would take us seriously just because we hadn’t been “official” for long. We had the passion, but not a huge portfolio, and pricing our services without undervaluing our time and creativity was a tough balance.

There was also the challenge of working full-time jobs while growing the business after hours. Late nights, weekends, and a lot of sacrifices. And as husband and wife, we had to learn how to navigate being business partners while still nurturing our relationship. It’s not always easy, but we’ve found our rhythm—and honestly, it’s made us stronger.

We’ve faced doubts, made mistakes, and had seasons where growth felt slow. But what’s kept us going is the joy we see on our clients’ faces when their vision comes to life. That feeling—that we’ve helped make someone’s moment unforgettable—makes all the struggle worth it.

We’ve been impressed with Events By Leesa, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We’re a husband-and-wife team behind an event planning and rental business rooted in creativity, intentionality, and faith. What started as a small step during a season of uncertainty has grown into a purpose-driven business where we help others celebrate life’s most meaningful moments—weddings, showers, birthdays, and everything in between.

We specialize in full-service event planning, event styling, curated rentals and event coordination, walking alongside our clients from vision to execution. Whether it’s an intimate shower or a large wedding celebration, we pour our hearts into every detail.

What truly sets us apart is our personal connection with our clients and our faith in God. Every event we plan is covered in prayer—we seek God’s direction in how we serve, how we create, and how we show up. We believe He’s the foundation of what we do, and that’s why we lead with love, patience, and purpose.

We’ve been told we bring peace, clarity, and joy into the planning process, and we believe that’s not by accident—it’s the grace of God at work through us. Our clients feel seen, supported, and celebrated.

At the heart of our brand is the belief that every celebration matters. It’s more than an event—it’s a moment God uses to bring people together, and we’re honored to be part of that story.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson we’ve learned is to trust God’s timing. There were times we felt uncertain, but we’ve realized that things unfold exactly when they’re meant to. We’ve also learned the value of staying true to who we are—our faith, our mission, and our commitment to serving others. And finally, we’ve discovered the power of community—whether it’s in prayer or collaboration. We’re stronger together, and that’s something we carry with us every day.
