Today we’d like to introduce you to Petra Ashley Schmitt.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
April 20th, 1992, would have been my son’s 30th birthday. Unfortunately, he was murdered on the 21st day of July 1994.
A tragedy that should not have happened.
Exactly in July 21, 1996, I began my Mission to step up and fight for children being consistently abused. My advocacy started expanding out, fighting for domestic abuse against women and senior citizens of all communities.
My Mission to help uplift and empower more people became stronger, and I expanded towards business owners, startups, and entrepreneurs.
That’s when I signed up with LinkedIn and Alignable.com; a combination of both was the best way to reach out to more people in my community.
After the Covid-19 pandemic, I went virtual and started my E.S.S.S.R., Executive Support System Services and Resources, along with my Grant Resource Nation Station.
Ashley’s Angels was able to help reach out to many business owners that needed virtual staff and other services. Giving them the opportunity to keep them afloat until we pass the pandemic.
Since then, I have helped many non- and for-profit organizations and companies.
I have been on so many BOD, Board of directors panels guiding them to a more sustainable foundation.
During all this time, I began to write my manuals for children to help themselves get out of an abusive situation. “Unheard child’s tears cry out,” which will soon be published.
I am trying to gather some equipment to start my podcast called “Blessed to Exhale after the Dust Settled.” Giving others a voice to tell their stories about how they survived an abuse or even a life-changing event.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it hasn’t been smooth along the way. Financial struggles have been my main concern.
Since many people have taken advantage of my kindness there were a couple of years without any income.
We’ve been impressed with Ashley’s Angels, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Virtual E.S.S.S.R., Executive Support System Services and resources.
Grant Resource Nation Station.
I am known as a Grant writer, researcher, and consultant for many non- and for-profit organizations and companies.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Absolutely 💯 I am a cautious risk-taker because I don’t like to see anyone fall professionally or personally. I say cautiously because everything needs to be strategically assessed and followed through, of course, tailored to each individual business’s needs.
That’s what I did in the past, working for the Florida Attorney General’s office, Legal Affairs Department at the beginning of my career at the age of 21.
I have never been a good follower because there is a difference between watching someone fall of the cliff and leading someone away from the cliff.
My perspective about taking risks as a Leader should always be explored because if you don’t, then how are your teams ever going to reach out and achieve their goals?
Showing them to think on their own, being a risk taker, away from others, being an extravert and not an introvert is very important part of their ultimate success.
