Today we’d like to introduce you to Randol Magnum Ruiz.
Hi Randol, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always had a passion for sports/health/fitness, from playing baseball to football to bodybuilding to personal training. I started sports when I was 5 years old and when I turned 14 my brother and father introduced me into weight lifting. My dad always had Muscle Magazines laying around and that’s when I discovered Arnold Schwarzenegger, Lou Ferrigno, and Lee Haney. I was inspired by them and wanted to have a physique like them. As sports came to an end I focused on bodybuilding and started training my friends in home gyms. After weight training for 9 years, I finally decided to enter my first bodybuilding show and continued for the next 12 years. In that same time, I helped troubled teens at the Boys and Girls Club and created my own weight lifting class for a program called The Coming Up. This is when I knew I wanted to change people’s lives by showing them something positive. In 2008 I started working 2 jobs and going to college. One of those jobs was working part-time as a personal trainer. I did that for about 9 years. I saw the amount of money I could make working as a personal trainer but most of all I saw how amazing it was being able to help people live a healthier lifestyle and help them change physically, mentally, and emotionally. 2017 is when I decided to go full time as a personal trainer and that’s when I knew I never wanted to work for anyone else but myself. 2019 A good friend and client of mine asked me if I was ready to open my own gym, I was hesitant at first but then I realized sometimes you have to take risks in order to grow. I trusted him and his knowledge in business and knew he would be a great person to do business with. So, we proceeded to move on to a new challenge. We found a great location in the new upcoming River East District of Fort Worth. We started build in 2020 when the pandemic hit which did make things hectic and difficult for us but fortunately, we were able to open Gym Evolution in end of November 2020. I am blessed to say business did really well considering we opened during the midst of a pandemic. We have had a great first year, and even able to give back to our community with 2 fundraisers! I am very thankful for that and for all the people who support small businesses and their community. I am glad people have Gym Evolution as a place for a positive outlet and a place they can call home.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Covid definitely affected our budget with our gym equipment. When the pandemic hit prices on equipment skyrocketed and we’re on back order even ’til this day.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Gym Evolution is a family-owned business, a 24/7 home-style gym that everyone could feel welcomed in. Gym evolution is not a mega gym chain. We believe in giving all our members all the tools they need to maximize their health in a family-friendly atmosphere so they can enjoy their fitness experience. We cater to all your fitness goals, whether it is just improving your overall health or wanting to take your fitness to the next level and compete. Here you can workout on your own, or hire one of our trainers to maximize your results. Our trainers have a proven track record with their clients and have extensive knowledge in the fitness industry. We offer a variety of programs from bootcamps, one-on-one training, group training, online training, to diet and nutrition plans. We want to be your second home, a place to have fun and stay healthy and in shape with your friends, family, or coworkers.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I learned that you have to take risks in life and not stay stagnant. Things will not always go your way but it does not mean you quit. You have to have faith in yourself and keep pushing.
