Community Highlights: Meet Rosa Linda Cruz of Rosa Linda Cruz Counseling & Wellness Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosa Linda Cruz.

Hi Rosa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey began in the educational setting as a reading teacher, and then I transitioned into school counseling. My love for education, reading, and providing support services and resources to students has allowed me to expand my skills into the community. A few years ago, I made the decision to build a stronger foundation in counseling and became certified as a licensed professional counselor. In addition, my first children’s book was published, and I began to present coping strategies in the communities.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have found that when in the midst of hardships and challenges it has allowed me to evaluate my options on how to grow around these situations. Having faith in my ability to move onward and seek out resources that support and encourage my growth and lifelong learning has provided me a foundation of opportunities to grow a private practice, write books, and present to communities, organizations, and agencies.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Rosa Linda Cruz Counseling & Wellness Services?
My private practice include counseling services, promotes mental health awareness, and provides presentations to educational settings, corporations, and community events on well-being strategies to incorporate in a professional and personal environment. I am an author of children’s books and workbooks which were inspired by my grandchildren and community members. The books are available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Walmart, and Dymocks. As a certified laughter yoga leader, The Benefits of Laughter & So Much More, an interactive and engaging presentation continues to be requested by businesses encouraging wellness and self-care for their employees.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Find what moves you and seek out ways to share it. My heart has always been in education with a counseling perspective. I started by providing pro-bono presentations. This led to opportunities that presented themselves by creating a new journey encompassing everything that I love to do. In addition, I was blessed to have mentors who, along the way, planted seeds that I could create my own business and expand on my services. Take the steps to broaden your field of expertise and talents, surround yourself with mentors who share their knowledge, experiences, and support, and always move forward.
