Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha Mahoney.
Hi Samantha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Growing up in the country, I was always going fishing and out on the water every opportunity I could. On one of my fishing trips with my mates, I thought, after looking at my old boring cooler in the boat as my line was in the water, I thought how can I make this more appealing to us female anglers? I had time to kill out on the water and my brain was working overtime while out on that trip that day. There wasn’t anything on the market at that time that appealed to me, since when could you go to the gas station or tackle store and buy a pink cooler before your fishing trip or beach day?! So, I decided to design and produce my own. Fast forward to our first cooler shipment it had sold out online within under an hour and crashed our website! From there on our wide range of coolers has consistently been a top and fast seller ever since. We have been successfully established in Australia for the last 7 years and are now expanding the business with wholesale opportunities now opening to retailers to wholesale our outdoor products within Australia as well as internationally.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing is ever smooth all the time as life in general is constantly full of ups and downs. I put my faith in my product and with my family’s support and encouragement, I never doubted that we wouldn’t make it. Any new business idea has its challenges, so be prepared for some unsettling moments; because we certainly have had; but with patience and perseverance, it’ll see you through.
As you know, we’re big fans of Babes Beer and Bass. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
Our company specializes in outdoor living, and with our apparel and cooler range with unique & fun colors and prices to suit your everyday outdoor activities; we are excited and proud to now share our brand within America and Canada. We take pride in our quality of products and the fact that we have many customers who are loyal and very supportive of our brand over the years.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
1. You need to be passionate, as it gives you the extra drive and enthusiasm to keep going because when you love what you do every day, it becomes easier to put in the time and effort required for success, and keeps you showing up!
2. I would most definitely say determination. Having a strong determination will help you persevere through challenges and setbacks when they occur, and they will. As your business grows, so do you!
3. Having a strong work ethic! It means you are committed to putting in the necessary effort to achieve your business goals. I feel these 3 qualities are an absolute essential in having any successful business.
