Hi Shawntel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I have always had a passion for makeup artistry, hair styling, and skincare. The rush I feel when I am painting a face and the excitement I feel when it’s time for my client to see the finished result is almost indescribable. Making people feel beautiful is what I was put on this earth to do. I am obsessed with learning about skincare ingredients, techniques, and technology because I believe that self-care is so important. A beautiful face of makeup starts with great skincare and I love sharing my knowledge with my clients. From a young age, I remember watching my mother apply her makeup and even though her routine was very simple it was quite beautiful. I appreciate the simplicity of a “no makeup, makeup look” and I adore the glamour of a classic red lip and winged liner. I cater to each client’s needs and take the time to listen and create the look that makes them feel their best. In my career, I have had the opportunity to work for brands such as Urban Decay and MAC. I am so grateful for the artistry training that I received and the wonderful relationships that I still cherish to this day.
The idea for a mobile salon was something that my husband actually pitched to me about ten years ago. He is very much an entrepreneur and the risk-taker. I have a tendency to be the more cautious one. I definitely came around to his way of thinking after a unique wedding experience that I had. I was hired to be the makeup artist for a bridal party of ten ladies. However, when I arrived at the venue, I realized it was not a venue at all. The wedding was taking place on a farm and everyone was to get ready inside of a barn with no lighting and no electricity. The day was challenging yet so much fun but it was then that I realized that I needed to take a chance and make Beauty Topix Mobile Glam Team a reality. We have created something so unique and special that offers luxury coupled with convenience. Beauty Topix is a full-scale three-chair mobile salon that offers a multitude of different services. We bring style to you!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Struggles and challenges oh yes plenty of them, where do I begin. We had a very unique vision which we were not willing to compromise. The search for the perfect vehicle was a huge struggle. Once I found a shuttle bus that fit the criteria securing financing was almost impossible. I was told no so many times but I refused to give up. We literally used almost all of our savings to purchase the vehicle and we even completed the renovations ourselves. We purchased every scrap of material as well as furniture and salon supplies. If we did not understand how to do something we researched and found a way. I am so grateful to my husband for his perseverance and patience. We truly put our blood, sweat, and tears into this venture and I am so proud of the end result.

I want my children to understand the importance of having a great work ethic and integrity. I give 100% to my clients each and every day because I want them to know that I truly appreciate their business. They can choose to spend their money elsewhere but they chose Beauty Topix because of the reputation that I have built. Repeat clients are the ultimate compliment for any business owner because it shows that a relationship of trust has been created.
