Community Highlights: Meet Shonda Martin of Road To 750

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shonda Martin.

Hi Shonda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m originally from St. Louis and I come from humble beginnings. I wasn’t taught much about credit in high school, so while I studied business in college- I began to focus much of my self-study on personal finance. I created a Facebook group to share what I’d learned with friends and family, in the hopes that it would help them manage their personal credit. That group grew into a community of over 400K as of today and I created my company Road To 750 LLC along the way.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The Road To 750 was not a smooth road for me! My business was born out of my own personal struggle with credit and while I’ve learned a lot over the years, some mistakes I’ve made early on have stuck with me. I took on predatory financing many years ago that ended up costing me more than I’d ever imagined. I still have subprime cards that I can’t close because they’re the oldest accounts I have. I’ve shared my entire journey with my group so we could all learn together.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Road To 750 LLC?
My company Road To 750 LLC is a personal finance education company. I’d say I’m known for offering credit education that the average person can understand. There isn’t much credit education available to the average American and what is available can be difficult to make sense of. I specialize in explaining complex credit principles in a way that enables consumers to take actionable steps to exercise their rights. On our website, you will find specialized classes such as the Credit Bootcamp, which walks consumers through understanding their credit reports and how to spot and challenge inaccuracies.

I’m most proud of all of the progress our group members have made. Every day I see testimonies from people from all over the country who’ve learned something from Road To 750 and have improved their financial lives as a result. Recently, I’ve been honored to partner with organizations like Smart Credit and Experian to help drive positive outcomes for our community.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
My newest mission is to help educate high school students about credit. I don’t mind traveling to each school to teach in person. If any Voyage Dallas readers could help bring this mission to life, please reach out at info@roadto750.net
